Quick Question Regarding Canon Imagepass

Can someone please answer me a quick question. I have a new Canon Imagepass U1 which was made for the Canon Imagerunner Advance 6055. Canon has discontinued this model for the 6255 which uses the Imagepass U2. Will the Canon Imagerunner 6255 work with the old U1 or am I forced to buy the U2. I have a 6255 sold and the customer wants the print server. They are willing to lose some capabilities with the old print server for the cost savings if thats all there is.Thank you in advance.

This U1 should function on the iRADV6200 Series/
but will not have the additional features listed in this tech pub./ U2 is just a successor to the U1 w/updated features
I would give Canon a call on this---------------------
