Canon ir3245 Restart required to clear jam !

    Hi,

I have a machine in a customer that has had half a dozen visits due to having to restart to clear any finisher jams machine is fitted with an inner finisher s1. Jams from trays or deck clear no problem.

    Steps taken so far:

    Firmware upgrade
    Finisher controller pcb replaced
    Dc controller replaced

    Anybody got any idea's ?

If you open front cover does display tell you its open? I've seen where interlock, which is flimsy, gets bent enough so when the front sorter cover is put back on it actuates the switch and copier never knows when the door is opened and closed.

I'm almost certain the door switch is fine as I have been opening in to cause the machine to jam, have ordered a new main interface cable and if that dont work i will use my trust hammer

Since you replaced the PCB's related to the issue I would try the firmware again. Instead of holding down 2 & 8, go into download mode from service mode Copier>Function>System>Download. I'm not 100% sure but I think the options like Fax or Finisher don't get flashed when you do firmware from the 28 boot, only entering download mode from service mode. Also, select FORCE write in SST.

Check the flag sensors switches on the pick up assy. They sometimes get stuck. Or a bad sensor that not resetting its self. Look in service mode, identify what the jam code is and what sensor.

i'm thinking door switch. this could be not only main door but any door including paper cassette. you can view each switch operation in service mode i/o
