    imagePass H1 LED says FF

    Hey All
I have read a few forms on this issue but i want to repost it

    I have a irc4080 with an imagePass H1.
the ImagePass wont boot...stays FF and the contol panel says to wait and check its connection.

I did remove the battery and left it out for 30 minutes. (though i did not remove the memory while i did this as i read in another post)

i tried re-installing the system s/w..via USB and a crossover cable. Either way i cant re-install system s/w.
repalce HDD and reinstall system s/w..still cant install system s/w.

i tried re-doing the imagepass install procedure according to the install procedures. (this included setting the machine back to factory settings)

Here is the funny thing..2 weeks before i removed an ITB part from this machine (our shop printer) and installed this part into a clients down machine. when the new part came in, i repaired our shop printer. I never touched the imagepass and or the cables to it. why, why WHY WHY??

I dont have another imagepass H1 or cables to trouble shoot with.

i would appriciate any suggestions. Thankyou

I had a issue like this before. Did everything that you mention. In my case it turned out to be the memory.

How did u prepare this USB Drive ??? did u use the USB Flash Tool ??
if u loaded USB correctly > remember that the DOWNLOAD Switches must be in NORMAL POSITION (DOWN) when using the USB.

I never use a USB to reload firmware on a H1/ by the way what is your firmware ver. for H1 is 1.1 or 2.0 ??

I always load the system disks on the laptop in a named floder (with either 2 for 1.1 or 4 for 2.0)
      -----Power off Printer
that will Shut down the imagePASS
      -Disconnect all Cables
-Connect the computer and the imagePASS together with the cross-over cable
Power on the LaptopPower off the copier.defective power supply unit-

to install the sys s/w onto a USB thumb dive i used a free program call "7 Zip' that canon support suggested to use. it will copy the iso files to any media. works great

Did firmware reload fix your problem?

It takes 2 minutes to reload H1 by USB

When customers lose their Fiery software CD's , on color products
they get charged for labor (min. one hour 275.00) even if they have a contract.

got tired of carrying USB sticks for these printers/ loaded SST, Fiery firmware & Printer firmware in folders on customers PC's or Laptops /or their Network persons Laptop> those that refused > were sorry later on --

            It's a lesson well learned ?
