MF6540 download standby error

Someone brought an MF6540 into my shop displaying the "download standby" error. From what I have read so far, it looks like I will need a service support tool as well as current firmware of which I have neither. If anyone would be kind enough to help me out I would be happy to make a donation to their favourite charity/cause/whatever in their name. If I can be of any technical assistance I will certainly oblige.

It's funny, I have been a tech since the liquid copier days and today is the first time I have run across this site.

It needs an image processor board. It's the board the boot rom plugs into. NWRS sells repaired ones with exchange for around $70. If you get a new one dealer cost is something like $250 so the customer will never approve the repair they will just go out and replace it.

Using the Service Support Tool in an effort to install new firmware, I am receiving an error:

The selected model and the connected model did not match.
Check the model; then, connect to the correct model.
Selected model: MF6500
Connected model: MF6540_9

According to the instructions so graciously provided, I am using the correct firmware.

boot: MF6500-WLaa3201-MAIN.bin
system: MF6500-WLaa3301-MAIN.bin

Can someone please verify the firmware needed and/or provide if necessary.

the firmware is correct for that printer. i have tried before to re flash similar printer he in Australia with same error on it. i found that the NVram in the printer has become corrupted in the printer had to replace the main board in the printer. Also some printers require a service tool from canon to load the firmwares or they need to be in service mode some times.

maybe someone help with firmware?

ps my mf6560 is now with ir1022 firmware but won't work prop.
i may tell how load anyone firmware.

Is there anyone on here that can send me the firmware for my Canon MF6540 printer? I'm running Windows 10 64bit. My printer is saying "download standby" and Canon told me I needed to upgrade the firmware, however, they were unable to provide it to me. Thanks in advance!

Good morning, MFP Canon 6540pl after switching on, the message "Standby download" appeared, it requires firmware, the utility is installed, Contacting Canon Support does not have a result, a search on Internet resources also does not give a result, there is firmware from Canon ir 1022, but it cannot be uploaded it turns out, help with the firmware, please.
