E004 indicates a fixing unit protection circuit trouble.
E004-0401 can be displayed when a 13V trouble error occurs.

NOTE: Unlike the other E004 series codes, this code is not cleared until the error clear is performed in the following mode: [Service mode > COPIER > Function > CLEAR > ERR].

    Workaround :
    1. Make the following selections in sequence to perform the error clear:
[Service mode > COPIER > Function > CLEAR > ERR].
    2. Turn the control panel switch OFF > turn the main power switch OFF/ON.
    3. If the error code still persists, check to see if the connector [1] of the fixing thermo switch is disconnected or the pin [2] of the receiving side connector is bent. If the connector is disconnected, re-fit it.

    4. Check to see if the wire cable [3] of the fixing thermo switch is pinched by the IH heater unit.

Note: When attaching this wire cable, run it through the cable guide to prevent wire-pinching.

    5. Re-fit the connector of the Replay PCB.
    6. Check to see if FU261 on the Fixing Heater PCB blows; if not, re-fit the connector.
If it blows, replace the PCB by a new one.
    FM2-6313 Fixing Heater PCB Assembly--

FU261 is located on the IH Power PCB (FM2-6313-000).

      Hi,

We usually replace the fixing assembly.

I use a dummy connector to clean the connector inside the machine, connecting the one on top of the fixing heater. Spray with alcohol en reseat the dummy 100 times.

Another reason a E004 can pop up. The green varistor on the ITB assy. That should not be removed.

Could you be more clear about what you mean about the varistor transfer unit

Prevents Static buildup in the area/
The removal, malfunction or modification of the varistor can cause a variety of problems.

Varistor #2 it screws between small plate & large plate(not shown) on underside of ITB UNIT
some tech's forget to replace when replacing ITB SHEET or cleaning inside bottom of plates
