[Error Code] Canon IR C2880i E-067-102

I have a Canon C2880i that has been giving strange messages. It started with the code E067-102 and I changed the black drum. The black drum was at 100 when checked in service mode, then it would go away, make a few copies and it would happen again (E 067-102). This has been going on for a couple of weeks.

I came back to follow up and was able to make some copies and all seemed OK except for the waste toner light. I emptied the waste container and cleaned the little window on container then the message "insert black drum cartridge" message came up. I checked the black drum, reinserted it and checked the drum life settings (black was at 21 and ok). I then replaced the magenta drum because it was at 100 while the other 2 drum are at 91 each. Then I get a message "insert black drum cartridge" on the status area on the bottom of the display again. I powered the machine down and back up then I get the E067-102 again (like ground hog day), so I went to MISC in service mode again and now the magenta drum I just put in says -491. What is going on? I suspect the DC Controller is cooked or something.

Any ideas on this mystery would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Re: Canon IR C2880i E-067-102

despite it's an HVT error I ran into this code no more than three weeks ago. Had to clear dc-con for the drum lifes to regulate. Problem I had was the primary roller was arcing out in the black drum unit. It hasn't come back since so I'm assuming all is well.

Check to see if the spring in the drum drive coupling is compressed. If the coupling is compressed and doesn't spring forward....remove the clip and mess with that spring so the coupling moves and engages properly.

      Other things to check:

1.Check to see if the primary transfer roller spring is deformed or detached.
      2. Clean the point of contact of the primary transfer roller
3.Unplug and replug the connections on the dc controller.

        Re: Canon IR C2880i E-067-102

        Hello,

Recently, i replaced the four drums in an IRC2380i. The error code E067-0102 appears just after. The machine worked when getting back to the old drums. I found a service bulletin advising to upgrade the DC-CON to version 66.02 which will change "E067-0102" to an alarm notice. The machine is now working with the new drums (after upgrading Dc-con)

here is a pic of that coupling -

          blazebusiness mentioned

coupling within the Drum Drive has compressed. (See illustration #2 below)

Remove the e-ring and correct the spring tension as in illustration #3.

          ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Check If the conductive bushing on the front side of the ITB assembly for the transfer roller is cracked. This part cannot be ordered. Replace the ITB assembly. Part number FM2-5522-030.

Check to see if the primary transfer roller spring is deformed or detached.
Clean the point of contact of the primary transfer roller.-

Remove & Re-fit all the connectors of the DC Controller PCB-

when was the last time u entire ITB Assembly

if returns/ try to output P-Print printouts, (u should have original & recent P prints with printer always) and then replace the DC Controller PCB with a new one.

Change the ITB assy. Seen this plenty of times.

Real simple to change, snaps in. Only comes as one whole part.

Every tech I know in the UK is having this problem at the moment. We are being told that canon have changed the "manufacturing process" of the black drums (!?). I think it is an enviromental issue combined with old ITB assy. Latest firmware does not cure but, so far, a new ITB assy in the machines with this issue seems to have solved the problem.

this is not only in UK/ USA has same issues with ITB/

the ITB UNIT is cheap & easy to replace/ Canon doesn't manufacture anything /

BLACK DRUM issues exist on all Canon color printers /

Currently northern Europe is cold and dry, humidity lies between 0 and 10%. The transfer rollers inside old itb;s tend to have very bad charge tranfer at the moment and cause such troubles.

Clean them with water or replace the itb assy.
