Canon C5185 E000110-0205 error code please help

Hi, my C5185 gets error code E000110-0205 when starting up. after the error a fan goes on high and tells me to shut down. please help with any suggestions or info what the error means and what i should do about it.
Any help would be appreciated.

Beam Detect error on the Magenta laser.

Swap the laser with one of another color to see what happens.

0205, the 2 references Magenta, so 1 = Yellow, 3 = Cyan, 4 = Black

Fer is correct. Start there and If problem moves to the other color......replace laser. If the magenta still errors out......... reseat all connectors on dc controller and sub boards. If still bad.....possible dc controller pcb failure.

It;s pretty odd though, these lasers tend to stay on without any control possible, burning the drum units.

Not even possible. The lasers would certainly error out before they could ever do what your describing. What makes you think they are "Burning" the drums? Something you saw on the drum opc surface?

agree/ never seen LASERS stay on to burn drums

E110 sub codes descriptions are as follows:

1st line: Always 0

2nd line: Station where the error occurred (1: Y, 2: M, 3: C, 4: K)

3rd line: Main unit status when the error occurred (0: Activating, 1: Correcting the image position, 2: Changing the speed, 3: Operating steadily)

4th line: Polygon control status (0: Suspension, 1: FG rotation, 2: BD control 1, 3: BD control 2, 4: BD Control 3, 5: BD control 4, 6: Phase locked)



110-0205=MAGENTA

0xx5 The phase is under control.

(1)Check whether the harness is not removed.
(2)Replace the scanner unit.
(3)Replace the power unit.
(4)Replace the harness.
(5)Replace the DC controller PCB 1 (IMG).

I swapped the C and M now the error is 305 does that mean i need to replace the laser?

Yeah, the problem is in the laser unit. U can open it up, see if you find anything. But best to replace with another unit.


The laser staying on: Machine starts, with itb right cover removed. The color which has the staying on laser starts causing toner to be on the itb, it will be fully covered with toner. Since the cartridge is not supplying any toner, but the drum unit is writing all its toner to the itb, the drum unit will be empty soon and E020 will show up. Been there several times.

Hi, i replaced that laser now i am getting a 202. what does that mean

Ok one of the connectors wasnt totally secured after replacement. now the machine works great.
THanks for all the help guys. should i throw the bad laser away or does anybody want it.
