    Canon C5180 error E00004

So the customer has this E0004-0401 error which points to the fuser, thermistor or power board etc. Parts for this copier are not inexpensive and the customer is away outa town...travell/time/mileage...so what is the general opinion on what is the most common cause!!!!!!

    Thanks all!

if this was an easy thing to do then everybody would be doing it! But it isn't and they are not!!

An error with the thermystors in the fixing unit.

Try cleaning the fixing connectors, especially the on top side of the fixing unit, closest to the handgrip. Also clean the corresponding connectors inside the machine. Of error persist, replace the fixing unit. The thermystors are INSIDE the fixing belts, replacing them would take to much time in the field and a big change the unit is unrepairable.

Most of the time, it is necessary to replace the fixing unit.

Customer loves their copier...so I quoted a fuser because that way its done...no back and forth

So to confirm the fuser change should cover it? Without a crystal ball of coarse

A fuser change should take care of it but those units are super pricey. Shame that they cost so much because the machine is solid but a lot of customers replace the copier when they see how much the fuser will cost them.

this customer paid $15,000. for the machine and they need something this good and a fuser is cheaper than another machine...but why so much, only Canon has access to that dart board....I do Xerox Phaser, solid ink, and if you do not have a contract their prices are nuts compared to what you paid for those high maintaince things

soooo thanks for the great input...have a great one!!!
