    Installing imageWARE Accounting Manager (iWAM)

    Question :
How do you install imageWARE Accounting Manager (iWAM)? What are the required steps?

    Answer :
    * For more detailed instructions, please see the attached iWAM Users Guide.

Summary of installation steps (for a new install): * IMPORTANT - The steps below must be performed in this EXACT ORDER.
    1. Install Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) (v5.0, v5.1, or v6.0).
    2. Install MSDE 2000 SP4 or SQL Server 7/2000 SP4 (restart after installation of SQL).
    3. Install Sun Java 2 Runtime Engine (J2RE) Standard Edition 1.4.2_10 or later (Java SE can also be downloaded from the Oracle Technology Network for Java Developers site).
    4. Install iWAM 5.0 Server (install iWAM Central Server onto the computer you want to use as the Central Server). Register your license via LMS.
    5. Setup your iWAM Server preferences settings.
    6. Install the iWAM Client Module on the computers that will be used for printing (ex. install it on the print server).
    7. Install the Billing Code Plug-in Client on any MEAP-enabled iR devices that may need to have it installed.
    8. If you have VCC (Virtual Cash Controller) devices or DA units, configure them now (if applicable).
    9. If Central Server is being used, register the iWAM location servers.

Upgrade instructions for an existing NetSpot Accountant installation (NOT for Windows NT 4.0):
    * NOT APPLICABLE FOR WINDOWS NT 4.0.
    1. Install MSDE 2000 SP4 or MSSQL 7/2000 SP4 (restart after installation of SQL). If an older version is already installed, it will be overwritten.
    2. You can install iWAM 5.0 by overwriting the previous version of Accounting Manager/NetSpot Accountant The database information from NetSpot Accountant can be used with iWAM 5.0.
    3. Install Sun Java 2 Runtime Engine (J2RE) Standard Edition 1.4.2_10 or later (Java SE can also be downloaded from the Oracle Technology Network for Java Developers site).
    4. Install the new version of iWAM (iWAM Server 5.0).
    5. Setup your iWAM Server preferences settings.
    6. Uninstall the Client Module from all of the computers you use for printing (if NetSpot Accountant Client Module 3.0 or higher is installed, you do not have to uninstall it). After deleting the Client Module, make sure that you restart the computer.
    7. Install the Client Module into all of the computers you use for printing.
    8. Install the Billing Code Plug-in Client on any MEAP-enabled iR devices that may need to have it installed.
    9. If you have a VCC (Virtual Cash Controller) or DA units, configure them now if applicable.
    10. If Central Server is being used, register the iWAM location servers.

Upgrade instructions for an existing NetSpot Accountant installation (Windows NT 4.0):
iWAM 5.0 is not supported on Windows NT 4.0. To convert a version of NetSpot Accountant that was created in Windows NT 4.0 to Accounting Manager v5.0, you must change the OS and the database. For information on the conversion procedures, refer to 'Converting the Database from a NetSpot Accountant Created in Windows NT 4.0' on page 11-12 of the attached iWAM Users Guide.

      Thanks and Regards,
