TWAIN Driver for Canon imageRUNNER 2420 needed

    Hello,

I bought a new very elementary Canon imageRUNNER 2420. No ethernet, just USB. Hence the ScanGear software on the CD it shipped with does not work, its looking to connect via IP address.

Could somebody please share a valid TWAIN driver Windows/MAC?

    Thank you.

Also, keep in mind that ScanGear will only work for Canon iR series copiers that are connected to your office or home network on the same subnet.

Will an Ethernet card be the solution?

It appears that the scanner of this device can not be accessed via USB.
Pressing the SCAN button on the panel brings up the message:
        This function requires optional equipment
        -- only a network card?

CANON might manufacture good hardware, but their documentation is lousy and their software old fashioned and clumsy.

Re: TWAIN Driver for Canon imageRUNNER 2420 needed

            Made it easy for you

            Network Interface

With the optional Network Kit, the imageRUNNER 2422/2420 can be connected to
a network using Ethernet. Connecting to a network enables you to use the Remote UI.

Using the Remote User InterfaceNetwork Scanning
If the network connection is available, the Network Scan function enables you to use the
imageRUNNER 2422/2420 as a conventional scanner. You can scan a document using the
machine, and read the data in an application on your computer. To use this function, the
machine must be connected to an IPv4 network, and the Color Network ScanGear
software* must be installed on your computer.

            That is on your CD
or here Color Network ScanGear v2.71

Canon iR2420L : Color Scanning is optional.
You must buy NW IF Adapter 1N-E14 to Print and Scan through the NETWORK.
It can not Scan via USB, only Print.

I have another scanner. Its just a shame that CANON isn't able to accomplish software with more functions and better usability. Even CANON network scanning sucks.

Now you have learnt a lesson. The next time you want to buy a machine you must first do enough research on the product your heart desires before you walk into the shop. Have a one-on-one with the salesman, tell him what functions you expect from the product. He's there to help & guide you. Canon is a world leader in imaging products and manufactures for various end user markets. The iR 2400 series has many variants of the model meant for various end users. You opted to buy, in your own words, the ''Very elementary'' variant of the same. You can't turn around and blame the manufacturer of the machine for the choice you made! ''Choices have consequences". Just follow teckat's advice and upgrade it.
