Scanning to a Mac from U-Send

I have a Customer with a Mac running 10.7.5. I have downloaded the drivers, and tried to set this up with no resolve.
Also need to set up Scanning to the Mac. What is the best way set this up. From the little I could find it mentions using SMB on both.
I turned that on in the copier, just not sure about the Mac. Any help would be great.

i have never had to do this on a MAC. I take it you are trying to scan to a shared folder on this MAC?

Re: Scanning to a Mac from U-Send

        * Sending via SMB to a non-Windows computer system is not officially supported by Canon. Mac OS X Jaguar, Panther, and Tiger run Samba by default as part of their Unix-based Operating System. This allows the sharing of files between Mac OS X computers and Windows computers via SMB. When you log into Mac OS X with a user account, you work from the user account's home directory. It is this home directory that will be 'shared out'.
To manually configure a SMB destination on the Canon device for a folder on a Mac OS X computer, enter the following information:

        For example,

Alternatively, you can browse to the Mac OS X computer from the copier when setting up your SMB destination. In order to see it in the Browse window on the copier, the Mac OS X system may need to be made part of the workgroup.
To add your Mac OS X system to a Windows Workgroup:
        1. On the Mac, open a new Finder window.
        2. Select the Applications tab.
        3. Open the Utilities folder.
        4. Launch the Directory Access utility.

        5. Enable SMB on the Services tab.
        6. Highlight SMB and hit the Configure button.

        7. Enter your Workgroup name and the ip address of your WINS Server (if applicable).
        8. Hit OK.
SMB directory access and Windows Sharing must be enabled to send from the copier via SMB to the Mac OS X system. To enable SMB directory access, follow the steps listed above.

To add your Mac Leopard OS X 10.5 system to a Windows Workgroup:

        1. Click the Apple menu and choose System Preferences.

        2. Select the Network applet under the 'Internet & Network' section.

        3. Click on the 'Advanced...' button

        4. Under the WINS header enter your Windows workgroup name in the 'Workgroup:' field

        5. Click 'OK'

        6. The MAC 10.5 workstation must be rebooted for the change to take effect

To enable Windows Sharing on your Mac OS X system:
        1. Click the Apple menu and choose System Preferences.

        2. Select the Sharing applet under the 'Internet & Network' section.

        3. On the Services tab, enable Windows Sharing.
        * Note - You must also enable the specific user accounts that will be allowed for SMB sharing on this screen in Mac OS 10.4.x Tiger.

To enable Windows Sharing on your Mac OS X Leopard 10.5 system:

        1. Click the Apple menu and choose System Preferences.

        2. Select the Sharing applet under the 'Internet & Network' section.

        3. Highlight 'File Sharing' as shown below:

        4. Click on 'Options...' and check 'Share Files and folders using SMB' and click 'Done'

        6. You can then go back to the File Sharing menu and add folders and set permissions as desired

          Hi,

Which version of MacOS are you being faced with? If it is either 10.7 and above 10.8, Apple have upgraded the SMB and SMB login security, and as of my last knowledge Canon IR machines still have not got any resolution yet.

You could use Mac built-in FTP but you need google around for enabling it in MacOS.

That is a lot of great Info, Thanks Teckat. I think the problem is that the Mac 10.7.5 may be what is stopping me. So I was there yesterday for another
2 1/2 hours trying to set up scan to email. They are using Gmail. 810 error seemed to be the main error along with others. This is a iR2535i, I could not get
to a second tier service mode to change SSL Port. Only thru admin I was able to change port to 587. I was not sure if I needed to setup a POP3 for email.
            I am only sending out.

GMAIL as SMTP Server for Universal Send

              1. Enable POP in Gmail. Don't forget to click Save Changes when you're done.
              2. Configure your client to match the settings below:
Incoming Mail (POP3) Server - requires SSL: pop.gmail.com
                Use SSL: Yes
                Port: 995
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - requires TLS: smtp.gmail.com (use authentication)
                Use Authentication: Yes
Use STARTTLS: Yes (some clients call this SSL)
                Port: 465 or 587
Account Name: your full email address (including @gmail.com or @your_domain.com)
Email Address: your email address (username@gmail.com or username@your_domain.com)
                Password: your Gmail password
Unless you're using recent mode to download mail to multiple clients, make sure you've opted not to leave messages on the server. Your Gmail settings determine whether or not messages stay on the server, so this setting in your client won't affect how Gmail handles your mail.
Please note that if your client does not support SMTP authentication, you won't be able to send mail through your client using your Gmail address.
Also, if you're having trouble sending mail but you've confirmed that encyrption is active for SMTP in your mail client, try to configure your SMTP server on a different port: 465 or 587.
              3. You're now ready to use POP with your Gmail address.

              -------------------------------------------

              KL568 has it correct---
Due to changes made to the SMB protocol in 10.7 and 10.8, you cannot use the SMB protocol on the Canon. But you can use the FTP protocol. The easiest way to enable FTP on the Mac is to download and install an application called FTPD Enable.

Due to architectural changes in Mac OS X 10.7, both "Scan-to-SMB (Scan to Folder via SMB command)" and "Fax Folder Transmission (SMB only) & Fax Forwarding (SMB only)" can't be used.

              a resolution= NA
