    IR2570C Can't print

    Hi,

I have just bought my first copier, a used IR2570C. It was a small landmark for my small company, but has not worked out as I hoped.

It copies fine, but it's main purpose was to be our central printer. It is set up on the network and I can ping to it, the windows drivers find the machine and install, but when I send anything to print nothing happens. I also get error RemoteUI Contents is Not Found!! when trying to access it from a webbrowser.

We had an engineer out last week, who was unable to get it working but suggested that it might need its firmware reinstalling. He was going to charge more than the cost of a replacement machine to do this, does anyone have any suggestions of anyone in the London area who can offer this service at a reasonable price? I am quite willing to do the work myself if anyone has the software available?

He also suggested that he was not much of a fan of this model, does anyone have any opinions on whether it is worth investing much more time/money getting it working?

    Thankyou for your help,

    Duncan

The iR 3170 and the iR 2570 copiers can be connected to a printer kit* and

the iR 3170Ci and iR 2570Ci come fully network ready with a built-in PS/PCL/UFR II printer kit and Universal Send.

*The Color Multi-PDL Printer Kit and Color Network Printer Unit cannot be installed together.

    Network Scanning (optional)*
*For the iR 3170C/iR 2570C, the optional UFR II Printer Kit, Color
Multi-PDL Printer Kit, or Color Network Printer Unit must be
installed in order to use this function.

    COLOUR MULTI-PDL PRINTER KIT-D1
    (STANDARD FOR THE iR 3170Ci/2570Ci)

COLOUR UNIVERSAL SEND KIT-D1 (STANDARD FOR THE

*For the iR 3170C/iR 2570C, the optional Color Universal Send Kit
    must be activated.

    Printing (optional)*

*For the iR 3170C/iR 2570C, to use the PS and PCL printer functions, it is necessary to expand the memory capacity to 1,024 MB first, and then install the Color Multi-PDL Printer Kit or Color Network Printer Unit.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------
on your RUI Issue/ make sure it is turned on in control panel

Be sure to enable HTTP and RUI on the copier.
Be sure to enable "Dedicated Port" on the copier.

    Thankyou for your reply.

I have reposted, not sure how to delete the previous post.

I have been worried about whether it was print enabled. The engineer mentioned this when we first spoke, but when he visited said that it did have the board to do it. Is it a board or a software kit?
I have got hold of a secondhand 2570Ci motherboard with all the same daughterboards on, but no hard drive. I tried swapping it with ours, it boots to the point of an error message which I believe is that the firmware would flashing to make the motherboard unit talk to the large 'DC' board next to it, does that sound right?
I have tried changing the settings for the RUI, but without any success.

    Thankyou for your help

    Duncan

[Send] appears if the Color Universal Send Kit (standard-equipped for the iR 3170Ci/iR 2570Ci) is
activated and the optional Super G3 FAX Board is installed, or only the Color Universal Send Kit
(standard-equipped for the iR 3170Ci/iR 2570Ci) is activated. If only the optional Super G3 FAX Board is
      installed, [Fax] appears.

[Scan] appears only if the optional UFR II Printer Kit, Color Multi-PDL Printer Kit (standard-equipped for
the iR 3170Ci/iR 2570Ci), or Color Network Printer Unit is installed to the iR 3170C/iR 2570C. For the iR
3170Ci/iR 2570Ci, this key is displayed as standard.
[Printer] appears only if the optional Color Network Printer Unit is installed in the iR 3170C/iR 2570C.

        Thankyou Teckat,

I wish the engineer we were paying was as helpful as you.

Indeed the initial screen only has Copy, Express Copy and Mailbox, with MEAP on the second page reporting nothing installed.

There are four boards installed on the motherboard, what should I be looking for to see if a print kit has at least been physically installed?

Will it potentially work swapping out the boards with a 2570Ci? Do I need to change the large DC board as well.

        Thankyou again for your help

Re: for poster _Daved_iR 2570 info

A quick way to see what is installed on your machine would be to press the meter reading button (marked 123 in a white box) and press 'Device configuration' on the bottom of the LCD display. This will give you a run down of what is installed, as these machines came with a lot of items already there physically but required a license to activate them.

Your other post also asked what we in general thought of them, and I have to say unfortunatly that it isn't good. When these machines were developed they were aimed at the occasional colour market but because they offered colour people tried to use them as a full colour machine which in the end makes them go wrong or they used them as mono only which also makes them go wrong. As a user you have to aim for about a 1:8 page ratio of colour:black.

On drum use each colour A4 page uses 4 page counts on the drum life (this does NOT affect meter readings, you will still only get 1 page click per colour page produced). The machine is prone to throwing toner all over the insides of the machine causing error codes, copy quality issues and the like.

After reading this you may be asking yourself the 'What have I let myself in for?' question but have a look around on the forum about your machine and you should be able to use it for your needs, the user manuals (if it didn't come with any) can be downloaded from the canon website in the same section as the print drivers. Also listen to Teckat, he has put together some very accurate and detailed posts which will solve alot of your troubles.

If it comes to sending the machine back for a refund (it shouldn't but doesn't hurt to cover your bases) have a look at the Canon iRC2880i. It came with all the same features, was a lot more forgiving and the quality was very very good.

            don't believe u can even swap those 2570Ci standard pcb's into a 2570C /

on the 2570Ci u did not need to register ,because they are standard

Reason is > the License Access Number is not registered on LMS (License Management System) or Serial number for the imageRUNNER for those options for the 2570C

The License Management System is a website used to register LANs (License Access Numbers) for Universal Send Kits and other optional kits for the Canon imageRUNNER devices.
