[Electrical] Canon Ir 5870 won't start up

    Hi

I'm having problems with Imagerunner 5870 c. Machine won't startup.. green light next to keyboard is on..but nothing else happens.display is dead, everything is quiet(fans, fixing unit,..) on the main controller is red LED light that is on..That is all (besides green light next to display)

I replaced HDD, boot-ROM, RAM, complete main controller, fuses, DC controller, board for power supply, i even changed the ON/OFF switch.. Practicly all the boards on rear end have been replaced.

    Any ideas?

Sorry ,but your initial approach to the issue sounds wrong--

1- Confirm that the 3VDC remote at J122 pin 2 on the DC Power Supply Relay was present.
The 3.3V supplied to J122 on the DC Power Supply Relay Pcb comes from the Main Controller at J1203
Check for any breaks in the wiring from J1203 on the Main to J122 on the DC Power Supply Relay Pcb
Also check connectors for any bent pins in the intermediate connector.

2- Check connector J144 on the DC Power Supply PCB

3- Checked or replaced the All Day Power Supply

Check over the connections on the AC Driver, connector J1802 and J11F are capable of being interchanged. Please see picture attached.

Thank you for quick (and detailed )answer.. From what i understood from your post , it all looks fine.
So we have another same machine, and now we will try to replace one thing after another..
I think that the problem must be with the wiring, becouse al the boards were replaced, all connectors were checked and no result.
I'm trying to fix this from friday..today(machine was left alone during the weekend) when arrived we turn power on, and machine did start..
Then I try again and nothing.. This i find very weird..

          Just leave that POS down.
I would not want to bring that device back to life at all!!!!!

            Agreed!

I know you said that you changed the power supply but geeze, it sure sounds like a power spike or something like that has hit the copier.

it could be a long shot but it sounds like static acumulation, try to leave it unpluged for a couple of days and then plug in another power wall socket to rule out a power connection problem or grounding, then check all the ground connections on the boards specially power supply, in that couple of days all the internal static should disapear and it should start normal
              Life is a learning continuum...

I founded the problem was in the wire to vertical paper path sensor was pinched.
I connected DC controller with DC power supply and disconnected every other connectors on main controller. Then started to connecting it back one by one and turning the switch ON. I followed the connector (when i't was connected machine did'nt boot, when disconnected displays error ) to the wire to the sensor on riht cassete.(I had the circiut diagram at the time ) The wire there was already thickened with tape. I replaced the wire, thickened it again and now machine works.

Thank you for all your help.
