[Misc] Canon C1 - Yellow and black colors not adequate

Recently my printer started to malfunction.
Yellow color looks somewhat faded and black has a sand texture and looks grayish, it's not really black. The red color appears to be brownish.
Toner levels are Ok, the printer has printed only 50,000 copies, room temperature is between 22-25 and room humidity is between 30-45%. I know that the humidity is low, but the printer worked just fine from November to February.

First, I guessed something was wrong with my Photoshop setting so I printed several test pages directly from printer and had the same result.
Then, I asked one technician who suggested putting some toner directly to the feeder, bypassing the toner bottle and some pipes and then doing some commands in the service menu/function/install but that has't helped either.

If anyone has a clue to solve this problem, I would greatly appreciate sharing.

that tech who made that suggestion > should be mopping up floors in McDonald's

so u are not trained on this model/ are u a tech ????????

starter to toner mixture feels grainy to the touch for Copies and Prints.

Your drum is old or defective and needed to be replaced.

you also need to look at the Start Developer/ change all or replace units
when was the last time u did this ?????

      Hi,

I agree with Teckat, you say you have a sandy texture on your copies, which tells us the starter/developer is leaving the starter/developer unit and carrying onto the page.....

      Replace your dev assemblies.......

        Hi,
the printer has done only 50,000 copies and it was serviced in November. Since then I have printed maybe around 100 pages. Drum was inspected by technician and was ok, while the content of developers was changed because of the necessity for custom developers for this kind of printing.

I am not a technician, but I would like to learn as much as I can.

And, the only problematic color is black as it looks like sand, while yellow has faded a bit.

It seems like all your problems started when you changed your starter.......in november, 100 copies ago.

The thing is that everything worked perfectly until last 5 or 6 prints.
I use ceramic toners and starters made by Baltea D.C. for printing on special transfer paper which is later pun on ceramic plates and fired in kiln.

What do you think about environment conditions, humidity and temperature?

who converted this Printer ??? I would call them
did they convert the fuser pressure also ?

why didn't u say that you are using CERAMIC Toner/ Starter in this imagePressC1

everything now goes out the window with any type of support / including parts/DRUM/DEV UNITS--etc.

You can't even calibrate using internal prints once the machine is converted to "ceramics" toner.
You have to keep a pre-conversion calibration print so calibrations can be made as needed.

Well don't be mad at me

I think that you maybe misunderstood me when I said black color looks like sand. It's wasn't rough, it was rather poor pigmented and therefore had small white patches.

The technician I asked first for instruction was the guy from Baltea D.C. and he told me to put toner directly to some feeding part before starters.
He later explained that there might be a wrong toner to starter ratio. After having some troubles, I got it fixed.

I'm thinking about buying Color Munki so I could make icc profiles by myself. What do you think about it? This technician used Color Munki software and some other called Kera Plotter which he said is not available on market (He said that Color Munki is good, but Kera Plotter is better).

You have to enter Service mode *28* .

Copier, Display,Dens and see the negative values of the dens .
1.Let say thet You have -10 percent for Yellow.
2.Go to Function /Install/ Supply-H-Y and press Ok. for three times or more.
                    3.After that Stir Y.
                    4.Make a yellow Print.

Check The Dens-Y value and reapeat the process until of supplying yellow toner into the Yelow develope tank until the Dens-Y is close to zero.
                    Init Y after that.

Reapeat the Process of supplying toner into developer tank for each colour until the Dens are close to zero.

Make AutoGradation adjust and Fiey calibration.

The developer units have one toner supply mouth and one toner discharge mouth.
Do the Baltea teck sealed the Toner discharge mouth of the developer units?

I am working with C1 with Canon Toner and with Ceramic toner also.
