[Misc] Canon ir 5055 fixing/fuser roller

    Hi one, Hi all,

Have a small issue with a fixing roller for an IR 5055. I received a roller part no: FC7-4237 but when i tried replacing it, it didn't quite fit correctly, after placing the drive gear on to the roller you need to put on a retaining ring that holds the gear in place, this retaining ring is not round and has little notches that clip into designated slits in the roller itself. when trying to fit this retaining ring, it doesn't quite line up with the slits on the roller.

I have since double checked the parts manual to check if i may have gotten the wrong part, but the part numbers match and is correct according to canon.

Has anyone had this issue, or know what i can do to get around this issue.

    thanks in advance.....

Yes, you need to order a new retaining ring at the same time as the fuser roller, when removing the ring it deforms and doesn't go back properly as you have found out.

    FC6-3501-020 is the part number.

      thanks,

but i don't think its the ring as much as its the roller itself, the little locating holes that hold the ring on the fuser roller are in different positions.

I have a feeling i got the right box but the wrong contents.

      thanks anyway,

Having another look at the parts catalogue the part number for the fixing / fuser roller is given as FC7-4276-010 but doesn't say if this is unique to the 230v market or not as the catalogues usually give both.

Sounds like a 5570 gear. If you check the old roller it may be a 5570 roller with 5570 gear. The slots on the rollers are in different spots but in a pinch you can change roller and gear from 5570 for 5055. You just have to remember that you did that.

              @ Brian8506,

Thanks Brian8506, looks like you were right after all, one of my techies changed the roller a while ago and didn't have the right parts so he improvised, leaving me in the thick stuff.

Thanks for your help, much appreciated.

This always happens when mixing the fixing parts ( upper roller with its gear and ring) of the iR5570 series with those of the 5055 seris.
