Hello, just brought a used IFP5000 and it has the error "Purge Motor Senor Error". I would like to take the side cover off the take a look. Is there any info on where the screws are or 'exactly' how to remove these covers. It seem like there is a square screw and the bottom right side that need a special tool. Any leeds to pictures/videos/docs/text? I have the service manual but it does not mention how to disassemble. I did get the LCD panel off. thanks in advance. (there is suppose to be a gear on the purge unit that should be checked; so I remove the side/cover to see.

Thank you very much Teckat. My pet project today is to fiddle with this printer. Although, quite grateful, could I get you to share the full manual? I would not be able to purchase one this morning and would hate to loose the days time.
If you ever need a Color Management favor (DC/MD/VA); I'm there for you.

Re: Cannon iMAGEprograf IFP5000 (how to remove Right and Top cover)
Hi,
Can anyone suggest.... more realistically, can anyone 'talk me thru' fixing this error (see attached video)
It was suggested to take a look at the Purge Unit; well I'm looking!; <smile>
Maybe you can take a look and suggest/ talk me thru things to try.
The only thing odd to my untrained eye is the Head Carriage does not seem to lock into place. When I slide it over, I hear it hit up against it's end point but never does it see to 'lock into place'
The other thing is the belt is on but very loose. Maybe this is by design.

Re: Cannon iMAGEprograf IFP5000 (how to remove Right and Top cover)
If I follow that TP then that belt should not be anywhere near as loose as it is. The top of the belt flops down to sit on the bottom on the belt.
If I start up in Service Mode and initiate a test print, the engine revs up and I get 3 beep and "Carriage Motion Error"
If I position the Carriage over the Capping Station (Epson lingo) and turn the printer on I get the "Carriage Motion Error"
My error messages are
03130031-2F26
03130031-2F1F (exactly referenced in that TP)
per the TP, I need to figure out how to tighten the belt, as the first step. On the right side I can see it going around the pully/post and if I manually pull the belt from the center of the Platen, the Carriage will move freely, along the Platen.
Do I need to remove the Left side Covers to address the belt tension? It seems odd it could be that loose and still be 'on the track', so to say.

ps. Way to go on the TP. Thanks for that.
update: well the belt is OFF (came off the left side) I'm going in the Left side -- off with the Left covers...Last edited by Topstep1; 04-01-2013, 02:42 AM.Comment

or--------------imagePROGRAF iPF5000 Title : Printer display shows CARRIAGE MOTION ERROR Problem :
Printer display shows CARRIAGE MOTION ERROR , in the Print INF the registered error code was 2F26.
Solution :
In this case, we found that the original PrintHeads PF-01 were still installed. They were over six years old.
Replacing both PrintHeads at the same time resolved this problem.
2F26

Re: Cannon iMAGEprograf IFP5000 (how to remove Right and Top cover)
Took the left cover off and put the cable back.
The first vid shows the slack in the cable.
The second vid shows the Right Side Pulley. It's loose but I don't see how to tighten. (unless the screw is in the back (more stuff to take off?)

I'll take a look at the other good info after I get past this Step 1.
Update: I'm thinking this "Carriage Belt" may utilize [and be missing] a spring.
there is a reference in the manual; "While sliding the pulley to the left, remove the carriage belt"
Can anyone confirm "Spring Tension" for the right side pulley?Last edited by Topstep1; 04-01-2013, 05:34 AM.Comment
