    IR2800 Networking Scanning/Faxing Requirements

    Hello All,

First post. Can't seem to get straight info on what are the requirements to have scanning/faxing capabilities. Can now scan to machine but want network functionality, scan to network drives, etc.

I've been told it requires new board, new top of machine hardware, and other things, namely, passwords to activate already internal capabilities. Any info on this would be appreciated.

You need the i version of the copier to be able to scan to network drives. Ordinary IR2800s can't do it. The IR2800 only has pull scanning using scanning software and Canon's Network ScanGear Tool.

If you want to fax, you need the Fax Kit (if you don't have it already) and then you have to install the fax firmware using SST.

For sending documents directly from the machine to PC , you need the 'i' version.
For manual scanning you can do it by using the network scan gear tool.
In 2800 manual scanning is only possible as it doesn't have the send kit which the I series machines have.
As said above , to send a fax you need to have the fax board on the machine and also the correct version of the software.
