    IR C5180 Firmware

    Ok, so our small church had a c5180 with the saddle finisher, and an imagepass h1 given to us for free we are currently trying to print some flyers on it for a big meeting we have having in a couple months, and found out that it had the older v1.1 software on the controller.. being a small church we don't have the money to pay the local canon tech the $300 to come flash the firmware, but we found one who gave us an awesome deal on the software and we got that, (I have no problems flashing firmware and such as that's what i do for i living basically) and I did one more check before upgrading the firmware and saw that the main unit is only on 65.17 and I have seen here on this forum that it needs to be 78.17 or newer to work with v2.0 so my question is- is this actually true, and if so is it possible to download that firmware anywhere on the net, and if not, how would I look up the canon part number to see if we could afford to order it? thanks..

      What's your email address, I'll post here the FIERY firmware, you then need a black/empty USB stick, with this software you can create a bootable flash drive for the FIERY this will then automatically upgrade the firmware. However if the issue you have is that you can't print it may be another more simple expiation?

          My email is bshurilla@victorybbc.com basically the issue is with the postscript driver, I've used it before, but that was on a 32bit xp system, now the whole church is on windows 7 and 8, and they are all 64bit.. PCL5 works though..

                  Thanks!! The PCL can't handle the graphics and give us the right quality we need..

                      i burned that to a disc, but when i reboot and boot into the cd it says "cant find knoppix file system" and just gives me the command line after that.. did the burn fail? or am I just missing something lol

                          I have seen this before, can you try booting from the disk on another PC, preferably an older machine?

                              Forgot to say you also need to burn 4 more disks (link to the files below) these are the actual firmware, the first one you burnt is the “tool” to create the USB boot disk.
                              When you get the tool disk to boot ok it will prompt you to load the four disks you have burnt from the files attached & will start to copy the files to the USB stick. Hope that makes sense!

                                  I've got those, the problem right now is that I don't have the newest firmware on the main c5180 unit..
