[Error Code] IRC3100 E0000020-0081

hi there.. i have a problem with canon IRC 3100. machine appear error E0000020-0081. check the error code. problem with ATR sensor. change new ATR sensor. error code still appear. have any idea to solve this problem?

Hi,

Had this problem a lot with that model, so glad it has been discontinued. Your ATR sensor checks the toner levels in your DEV ASSY, your problem is not with your ATR SENSOR but rather with your PATCH IMAGE DETECTION SENSOR that sits just above the drum unit. This sensor tends to get soiled with toner and then gets incorrect readings, a simple strip and clean should get you sorted. If you clean the sensor thoroughly and still get the same problem, then your issue is with the drum unit. In earlier models we had an issue where the primary charge roller would burn a line across the drum and we would get the same issue (check the drum for any irregularities). Ive attached a snippet of where the sensor is located.

If you are ** careful ** and a steady hand you can clean this by removing the drum, patch sensor located at the top on the left, if not remove the ITB as well, takes time, but is safer that way and you will see the sensor in all its glory...

Still hate this model though...

Check life of and replace the drum, chances are it's @ 100% (that means used, not life left!)
