[Misc] IR C4080 with internal network controller not printing?

Now onto our second Canon IR C4080. (Im never buying canon's again!) This one does not have fiery. It used to but we moved it over to our other 4080 because that one prints color and this one does not, we are still using this one for black&white printing(at least we want to)(also the reason for using this one as b&w only is because my boss screwed up the config values for the lasers and now it doesnt print color correctly and we tried restoring the values off the pink sheets and it was a no go) any who it print black prints just fine so we are fine with that except now it wont print. After we to fiery off this printer i went and changed the interface from "3" to "0" and then setup the IP. Now all our computers recognize that the printer is there BUT we we try and print something the prints just sit in the print Queue and never print. Any ideas as to why this is happening and how do we fix it.

all u need to do is take the numbers off the LASER units and input to service mode

    see pdf's-----iRC5180 Laser Replacement.pdfLaser info.pdf

Now back to u removing Fiery H1 ??
did u remove the Fiery Open I/F PCB from inside printer ??

    imageRUNNER C4080 / C4580 / C5180 -
    - UFRII/PCL Printer Kit -N1 (optional)
    - PS Printer Kit -N1 * (optional)
    - imagePASS H1 (optional)
    - ColorPASS GX100 (optional)
    * PS Printer Kit-N1 requires that UFRII/PCL Printer Kit-N1 and iR 512MB Expansion RAM-C1 be previously installed.

when u do> u will need a Print Kit > PS Printer Kit-N2 option requires the Color UFR II/PCL Printer Kit-N2; also requires 512MB RAM.

You can check for the LMS-based Printer Kit on the Canon device the same way as you would check for any other installed LMS-based option or kit.

    Perform the following steps:

    1. Press the [Counter Check] button on the copier control panel.

    2. Hit the [Device Configuration] button on the LCD screen.

    3. Scroll down through all of the available pages on this Device Configuration screen. Look for either PS, PCL or UFRII. The methods listed here (ex. PS, PCL, or UFRII) are installed and are available for printing.

For example, if you find UFRII and PCL, but do not find PS on this screen on an iR C5180, it means that the UFRII/PCL Printer Kit is installed, but the PS Printer Kit is not installed. The exact Canon Printer Kits available vary by device model. See your specific device's documentation for more information.

    * Note - You will need to install the appropriate printer drivers on the workstation in order to print.

I Looked through the device configuration page and i see nothing that says PS/PCL/URFII. I also did the same for the other printer that we have working and has fiery on it and it also says nothing about PS/PCL/URFII.

when a Fiery is connected u will not see those listed.

it's only when Physical Kits (that have a pcb board) are installed or when Registering a LAN (License Access Number online & in printer) on LMS (License Management System) in printers that require it (the needed pcb's are already installed in printer models) Purchased LMS kits have this registration information in them.

u can not use the Fiery
Open I/F PCB to print from/ it's only for the H1

Re: IR C4080 with internal network controller not printing?

I did remove the fiery open PCB and tried booting and got error e748-4894. Put it back in and it boots. Now the printer that the fiery is currently on is a 4080"I".....so if i was to take the cards from that printer and put it in the 4080 would that work? Cause im not sure why if the 4080i has fiery on it and PS kit why it prints no problem. We also had an old 4080i that we junked and kept most of the parts, now that one obviously had an internal print controller so i took those parts and put them in the 4080 and then went and checked the Device Configuration to see if indeed those were PS/PCL/URFII kit and nothing came up.

            System Options
By installing system related optional accessories, the user can expand the functionality of the machine. This section describes some of the system related optional accessories and their functions.
            Color UFR II/PCL Printer Kit
The Color UFR II/PCL Printer Kit (standard equipped with the Color imageRUNNER C5180i/C4580i/C4080i) is well-suited for users who are using Microsoft Office applications. It supports PCL 5c emulation printing solutions, and incorporates Canon's
original UFR (Ultra Fast Rendering) Technology. UFR features color printing capabilities at maximized speeds in the Windows environment.
            NOTE:
For the Color imageRUNNER C5180i/C4580i/C4080i, the features of the Color UFR II/ PCL Printer Kit is available for use as standard.
For the Color imageRUNNER C5180/ C4580/C4080, the option to use the UFR II/PCL Printer function, the Color UFR II/PCL Printer Kit must be activated for use.
            Color PS Printer Kit
The Color PS Printer Kit supports PostScript 3 emulation printing solutions.
            NOTE:
To use the features of the Color PS Printer Kit, it must be activated by registering a license key.
            imagePASS
imagePASS is a piggyback printer controller which attaches to the back of the machine.
imagePASS supports Adobe Genuine PostScript 3 and PCL5c, and is suited for office environments in which larger print volumes are frequently processed, or for users who use Adobe PostScript or other PostScript applications.
NOTEimagePASS cannot be used with the optional Color PS Printer Kit.imagePASS cannot be attached to the Color imageRUNNER C5180i/C4580i/C4080i (THIS OPTION IS NOW AVAILABLE TO PURCHASE THE open I/F PCB for "I" MODELS)
            iR 512MB Expansion RAM
This option expands the memory capacity (1,024 MB as standard) of the Color imageRUNNER C5180/C5180i/C4580/C4580i/C4080/C4080i. To enable some optional functions, it is necessary to install the iR 512 MB Expansion RAM to expand the memory capacity of the machine to 1,536 MB.

U CAN NOT TAKE A/or THE PRINTER KIT/KITS from an "I" Model and install in a non "I" PRINTER

On the i models (C5180i / C4580i / C4080i), the printer kit is standard and cannot be transferred from it> Physicial removal or through Canon because they never had a LAN #

u don't seem to understand / once those internal kits are registered online & in printer > if they are not transferred to another printer with a transfer number & if u don't have the original LAN #( from original printer through Canon, those Licenses are no good)

In order to print using the UFRII/ PCL Printer Kit-N1/N2 or the PS Option-N1/N2, you receive a LAN number in the kit and MUST register it online using the License Management System. The key is/must then be entered on the machine in Additional Functions > System Settings > scroll down > License Registration.

Check the LCNS-TR setting under Service Mode Level 2 > Copier > Option. The ST-LXUFR and ST-PCL should be set to '1', if the UFRII/PCL Printer Kit-N1 is installed. The ST-PS should be set to '1' only if the PS Option has been installed. If these options are set to '0', it means that the option is not installed.

                * Remember that the PS Option-N1 requires the UFRII/ PCL Printer Kit-N1 and the iR 512MB Expansion RAM-C1 (bringing total memory on copier to 1.5 GB).

In order to print via TCP/IP, make sure the RAW and LPD Settings are turned 'On' under Additional Functions, System Settings, Network Settings, TCP/IP Settings. LPD may be set to 'Off' by default.

                * Note: The Printer Kit license can be transferred from 1 machine to another, the same way a Universal Send Kit can be transferred. Make sure to have the disable code when calling the TSC to perform the transfer.
On the i models (C5180i / C4580i / C4080i), the printer kit is standard and cannot be transferred.

Now that makes sense . Now what im going to do is avoid all of this PS Kit stuff. Im going to keep the printer the way it was and pick up a fiery. And call it a day. Sorry for being a hound.
