[Misc] Canon 3235 - Colour Scanner - Distortion

    Good afternoon everybody,

I have a Canon iR3235 that is giving me some colour distortion when scanning.

Along the bottom portion of a scan, a sort of "rainbow" effect occurs. (see the test page provided)

I'm starting to get a decent amount of experience working on this series of machine... but i haven't yet worked on a scanning assembly of ANY model of machine. So i'm not really sure where to begin with this.

It is my best guess at the moment that this is something to do with the CCD Unit... faulty sensors? dirty mirrors?

A step in the right direction with this would be fantastic.

    Thanks heaps.

    Hello,

Is the result the same with the DADF and on the glass?

I only thought to test the scanning glass.

But they use the ADF as their primary method of scanning, and the distortion was on all of their documents.

So yes, both from the glass and the ADF.

        Hello,

-I would start by cleaning what i could clean.

-Execute an RCON clear, put back the values in ADJUST>CCD and perform the different adjustments in FUNCTION >CCD. Switch OFF then ON.

-If no result, i would replace the CCD unit first and do the necessary adjustments. If the issue is still there, replace the Reader controller with the adjusments.

          Great, thanks for the info!

I will for sure let you know how it goes.

It was my guess that a dirty mirror might break up the light and cause a prism or rainbow effect.

Just required a good cleaning, fixed the issue first shot.

Thanks again for the advice with this.
