    Canon ir3035 squeak

This surely is a common problem because I now have three ir3035/3045 copiers that have exactly the same squeak that is roughly located in the back upper mid section of this breed of hardware. I have oiled all of the easy stuff and now here I am a newbie asking his first question on your forum.

    Thanks in advance.

Check the drum and drum pin interface. Toner can migrate into the area between the drum pin and the drum and cause squeaking noise.
To resolve this >remove the drum pin and clean the surface of the pin and hole in drum were the pin enters the drum side. After cleaning reinstall the pin into the drum assembly and reinstall the drum unit into the machine.

Duplex Drive Clutch in the Main Drive Assembly also has a known squeak
CL3 (Developing Sleeve Clutch) also squeaks

Just a point to note be careful where you are putting oil, if is gets into the clutches you will have all sorts of issues, slipping registration etc trust me a squeak is better than a jamming machine!

Thanks Canon Tech, I figured that after doing the safe stuff like all of the viewable bearings as well as anything else that might pass off as a bearing surface I figured that it was time to talk to you guys. Thanks again and I'll let you know what I've found.

Squeak gone! I actually have no idea what part it was that was squeaking because when I showed up with my oil-can this morning the squeak had vanished. I guess the oil from one of my drippings had migrated. YIPPPPIE!!!! Anyhow, I think that my gradual deteriorating hearing is now effecting my job. Heck my eyes are also going and my knees, don't get me started on them. I guess I should probably head off to an easier job like ......?

One more question, where would you look for a manual on these ir 3045 copiers?

Well done, squeaks come & go on Canon machines, I usually ask the customer to put up with it, most of mine do! I have sent you a link to download the manual.

I actually love this trade too much to toss it aside I'll just use a hearing aid, glasses and a crutch until I drop dead in some customer's office.
