Canon IR 5570 stops in the middle of copying, and continues to run...

    Help!
This copier intermittently does this. Sometimes it stops. Sometimes you have to turn the machine off and back on to stop the run-on. There are no error codes generated, or out of toner indication. The toner bottle motor, and the toner hopper motor work. I've vacuumed out the the hole where the toner bottle goes, and replaced the air and the ozone filters in case it was an an overheating problem. I've reseated the DC Controller connectors.
This has been an issue for quite awhile.
    Any thoughts?

Did you say that the copier is trying to add toner by turning the toner bottle continually? Is there a "wait" indicated on the bottom of the display while this is happening? I've had the little motor in the toner add assembly fail in the past so even though the bottle turns the toner is never actually fed beyond that motor. Anyhow, pull the little motor assembly out, it's located to the right of the toner bottle, and if you have 24 volts (or 3 X 9volt batteries handy) then you can test it when you get it out of the machine. Precision roller has the motor in it's stock, they are one of the suppliers that advertises here in one of the banner adds.

I've reseated the memory, and the toner bottle motor and hopper motor are both turning. No error messages, or wait happens.

Just to appease my curiosity, take the developer out and manually add about half a cup of toner directly to the developer unit from the hopper using a spoon. Then re-install the dev and see if the coipier works(this is just a temporary fix just to skirt a few suspected parts). If not then unplug the copier from the wall for a few minutes and see if that helps. I've seen both work but finally turn the fuser knob and see if it's a little too tight, I know that it sounds lame but I swear! Those lower fuser bearings are to blame for most of the weird stuff that happens to these boxes, I believe I've seen it do something similar to this by pulling the power supply down.
