[Misc] SST not allowing me to pick interface

I am trying to upgrade firmware on an ir2200. I have never upgraded firmware on a Canon before. I have the latest SST and have connected my Win 2000 machine via parrallel to the ir2200. I have followed the instructions for the SST and have gotten to the point where it says to pick the interface to Download the firmware. There is nothing in the drop down list. What am I missing?

what ver of SST u using ?
are u using a Nethawk USB to Parallel cable

    Why don't u use a CROSSOVER CABLE

When Using a Bi-Centronics Interface and a Network
The Service Support Tool allows you to select one of two interfaces to suit specific needs.
If both are in use, you must turn the machine off and then on first before making a switch-over (i.e., from Bi-Centronics to Network or vice versa), thereby preventing errors in the event of simultaneous writing operations.

The SST version is 4.72Ek and the firmware is USenv45.01. I tried just a plain old parrallel cable and also tried a crossover ethernet cable. At one point they were both connected at the same time.

WHAT DOWNLOAD MODE ARE U IN

use a CROSSOVER cable only (:KEEP IT SIMPLE )
          Assist Mode:
1-Place the machine into 2 & 8 safe mode and press the START ASSIST mode button.
2-The Service Support Tool detects what version of system software is on the imageRUNNER device and then
provides a list of system software available for downloading on the left side of the screen.
3-Once the software under System version is selected, it downloads entire version (unless certain Language/RUI files are turned Management Mode>Assist Mode LANG/o RUI) to the HDD.
4-When downloading the firmware is completed, the machine will reboot and install the selected System Software
          version.

I don't know if this matters but the NIC card was recently installed for the first time and this is why I am trying to upgrade the firmware. I recently changed the machine from copier mode to Network mode and was unable to print to it. I was told I needed to up grade the firmware to finish the conversion to a network machine. Is the Crossover cable still what I need to use in light of this info?

Did you replace the boot rom? It needs to be a N version.

IR2200 can only be flashed via Bi-Centronics. That means the computer connecting has to be either Bi-Centronics or Nethawk USB cable. If using Bi-Centronics make sure the computer LPT port is set to ECP mode.

Sorry for the wrong information. I did not know you could flash with network cable. It would have to be N or I version or have network kit installed. The base machine did not come with a network card.

Re: SST not allowing me to pick interface

The system must start up normally and the network settings must be correct

Probably the reason I did not think you could flash via network cable. Most times I was flashing the machine was becuse of HDD failure.

Yes, I took it from an ir3300.
