I have 4.72 I think. Is that the latest? My USB Nighthawk cable no longer works. Service Support tool doesn't show it as an option. I know this is old news . Guess I am going to get a http://www.quatech.com/pdf/expresscard_performance.pdf a PC express Parallel card.

what is Windows ver.?--USB-Parallel cable (FY9-4368-000) supports Windows Vista
u should see this under below >for later versions of Service Support Tool
when u installed SST 4.72
C:\Canon\ServiceSupportTool\inf\USBPAdp
Also be aware that this path will be subject to change if the Service Support tool was installed in another directory.
If it does not appear in the Device Manager screen, expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers line by clicking on the + and check to see if plugging the cable into another usb port will help Windows sense the cable. If it does sense it you will see a line with "USB Printing Support" on it.
Right click on the "USB Printing Support" line and choose "Update Driver"
In the next screen choose "No, not this time" and click on "Next"
In the next screen choose "No, not this time" and click on "Next"
In the next screen choose "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install." and click on "Next"
Click on the HAVE DISK button
Click on the BROWSE Button
Now Browse down through the folders until you see the driver name (usbhwk.inf) >
then click on the OPEN button
Click the OK
choose "NetHawk USB-10 Cable" and click on "Next"
Driver installation should begin
click "Finish"

yes sir the firmware.
the machines boots and will indicate harddisk faulty halfway through.
no error code reported yet. will site tomorrow
