Copier will scan ....... will not print. Nic responds when you ping it. When a print job is sent to the copier from any of 7 computers the copier will "wake up" according to the it guy but the data light never starts to flash and nothing happens. Each computer is configured to print directly to the copier---no print server. All computers could print to the copier until machine was moved to the adjacent room 15 feet away. No error message is given by copier when they try to print either. What's interesting to me is that the copier does wake up which , to me, eliminates a problem with the network. Told him to try and change from pcl driver to the ufr driver and see what happens. Any ideas?

Re: Canon IR C3100
Funny as teckat's post above may 'sound', yet the hidden meanings could be useful. Electrical noise, due to line interference from other electrical devices, through the wall outlet (socket) of the new room could be causing interference with the data communication on the network.Comment

Re: Canon IR C3100
In telecommunications system, [of which computer & Copier Networking is one], any electrical noise(Simple or Complex Harmonics) of whatever nature, magnitude(amplitude), frequency, phase or mode of operation, must always be totally eliminated if possible, or reduced to a very negligible level, more so in data communications. DATA itself is a form of electrical( or light) digital pulses of predefined parameters which need to be maintained within its limits. Any form of interference is 'frowned upon', as these have a tendency to cause not only signal attenuation but also distortion.Comment

Re: Canon IR C3100
I agree,
I was just pointing out that the problem may not be just electrical noise or interference as the problem of printing is not intermittent.
I am running a small WISP in a remote place and I know how improper electrical grounding of radios/devices and frequency interference (2.4) could cause so much trouble in my network.Comment

Re: Canon IR C3100
learned the hard way many times>
a networked printer that works in one room or on one floor at a company>
is not guaranteedto work when u move that same printer
LANs are susceptible to many kinds of transmission errors. Electromagnetic interference from motors, power lines, and sources of static, as well as shorts from corrosion, can corrupt data. Software bugs and hardware failures can also introduce errors, as can irregularities in wiring and connections.
