Canon IR 2000 black line (on drum)

I have a black line (1/2'') that keeps coming back ,even if i change the drum unit it will last a couple hundred copies and then it comes back seems like the blade is flipping but it's always at the same place (3 inches inboard) i even change the side door with the transfert roll ,the dev ,so right now i'm out of ideas ,if someone have seen this , your feedback will be more than welcome!!.

    Thanks in advance

Are they OEM drums or are you rebuilding them? Can you see the line on the drum after the copy? Sounds like drum or dv should have resolved it. Does the machine have print installes? If so, do prints have the line? could go back to the scanner area.

They are OEM ,the line stays on the drum even after the copy is done (like if the blade flip),so far i changed 3 drum without any succes, and it is not related to the scanner, i even changed the dev unit once.

      Thanks for the reply.

If you are rebuilding the Drum Unit need to replace the DC Blade and the PCR also vacout the Drum Unit completely &
        clean the Laser Glass.
My guess is the Fixing Film is soiled & needs replacing.

I had a cust. yesterday with a cleaning failure on a new OEM drum unit. Took apart and cleaned and so far it's good. Try taking the drum out of the unit and powdering up the blade. Make sure the charge roller doesn't get covered. I wonder if theres a bad batch of drums because it definitely sounds like a drum problem. The dv unit is mounted on its pins properly in front and rear right??

I would also say start looking at the fixing unit, you have replace the drum 3 times, dev and transfer roller which indicates the problem is further along the chain. If you do a test copy and jam the machine before it gets to the fuser is the black line still there?

That would have been my next thought but he says that the line is on the drum. What about toner? Is that oem? Sounds like its in the same spot on the copy. Anything else shouldn't prevent the drum from cleaning properly

As mentionned before ,the line is visible on the drum after the copy is out, so the fuser prob is irrelevant here .

                Thanks for your inputs anyways

Re: Canon IR 2000 black line (on drum)

Is there any damage on the surface of the drum ? or is it as shiny and smooth as the rest if you clean off the black line ?
My hunch would be to check if something is touching the drum and verry slowly eating away the toplayer...
That woud explain it being fine with a new drum and it coming back after a couple of hundred prints...

i've had ITB's schratched right after init and found a paperclip lodged in the printer and damaging the ITB...
