    [Misc] Canon iRC1022, iRC3380 & iRC5050

I have a customer who is returning leased printers and wants the data erased.
Can anyone clarify my understanding of the hard disks for these copiers? I don't think the 1022 has a HDD (from the specifications I read). I believe the other models do. Are the hard disks IDE and 3.5" physical size?

    Thanks

Hi, the data can be erased in the service mode in the models with hd .In additional functions > 2,8 additional functions > copier > function > clear > MMI .
ok. this procedure erase users data, mail box, etc...In models without hd such as ir1023 additional functions >2,8 > additional functions > clear > clear all.

Hard Disk Drive “Initialize all Data/Settings”
This feature can be selected by end users and/or service technicians to securely overwrite all data
from the user partition of an imageRUNNER Hard Drive before removing the device from the customer location. The
Hard Disk Drive “Initialize all Data/Settings” feature can assist customers in complying with their internal corporate
policies which may require the overwriting of sensitive data prior to equipment removal.
This feature does not require the optional HDD Data Erase Kit, which provides continuous overwriting of the hard drive for enhanced security.

Thanks for all the replys, quite informative and helpful.

Does the "Intialize All Data/Settings" produce a report that meets DOD 5220, can be saved and printed?

On most systems that contain a hard drive, once a file is deleted or removed from Hard Disk memory, it is still
            accessible until it is overwritten.
