If you are scanning to a computer via USB then yes it is possible, the link below lists the various threads on CopyTechNet on how to do it, if you are talking about scan to USB using a memory stick/flash drive then unfortunately no this was only enabled by Canon from the first generation iR-Advance machines onward.
