    iRC4080i dots on paper

    Hello,

Im a tech but I don't have much experience on Canon colour machines.
In our copycenter we have this machine, we haven't use it alot.
Problem is like this when u print or copy some ramdom dot's appear on the page, more like a background that tend to dissapear toward the middle of the page. See the attach. It happend's on the back of the machine mostly and is more visible if I use heavier paper (like 160gsm or 250-280 gsm).
Toner's are OEM and I replaced recently transfer belt blade. It has around 200K. Problem appears before fusing unit.
What should i check/do first? I don't want to invest more than i should in this machine since is for back-up.dots-on-page.jpgdots on page.jpg

    Hello,

What about your drums ? What are the values of DRM-LIFE ( Service mode > Copier >display > Misc ) ?

I'd hazard a guess and say you need to replace the DRUMS. 196%/197%/203%/250% used!!!

          DRUMS Check
did u vacuum out the rail that the cleaning blade unit slides into ???????

I will bet there is plenty of waste toner siting there/ remove all DRUMS/TONERS/FIX UNIT/ITB UNIT_/CLEANING BLD UNIT/
          POKE YOUR HEAD INSIDE

Make sure u keep the back of printer away from wall

Yeah I would say it needs drums....lol. Also make sure the mylar strip in the cleaner assembly is not bent. If there is waste toner on the rail Teckat is speaking about, then the mylar is deformed and when it cleans the itb,it dumps the toner onto the rail instead of inside the cleaner assembly. A little bit of reforming the mylar will prevent this. Shine a flashlight and make sure mylar is to the right of the blade when viewed from front

the dots that appear most cleary at the closer (2nd) image are regular, the dots are caused by drum problem. if you take out the drum unit you shall see the dots at drum surface (mostly caused by old charge roll). And there is some dirty at the fuser entry or somewhere just after transfer roll that is touching the paper lead edge (very tin line at the front).

Replace the worn out drum units. If still a problem then look further. Don't waste the time on it. If a car has bald tires, don't wonder why it doesnt handle properly......lol

For start i ordered a black drum unit, then afther I will replace that will see what happend's. But I expect the same problem since dots are the same on black or color prints so I suspect something like our coleague sayd about that mylar. I will be back with news.
