Canon D761, scanner does not work...does not move

The Scanner (that lights up when making copies) does not move, it does not even light up. when you make a copy you can see it move a little, like it is about to move but then it is stuck. I have never worked on a scanner before so am not so sure what is wrong with it. Hopefully someone here can help me.

most probably you have one of the tracks on the flat cable that goes into the reading head broken or not usual on those a burned up lamp, i'd check the cable carefully first
