Symptom After a V3 firmware upgrade the Super G3 FAX Board-W1 no longer functions. Numerous fax receptions fail with the error code ##106. Cause V3 System Software. The Fax software module is now embedded into the Main Controller firmware. Action For a FAX Board-W1-equipped machine with the main controller software of version earlier than Ver. 71.01, be sure to perform the following procedure after updating the software to Ver. 76.03 or later. In service mode > FAX > Clear > NCU, press [OK]. Turn the main power switch OFF/ON. Check to make sure that the following service mode items are set to the values below: FAX > SSSW > SW18 > bit 2 = '1' *1 FAX > Ncu > SPECIALN > 040 = '30' *2 FAX > Ncu > REODERTN > 004 = '35" *3 FAX > Ncu > REODERTN > 005 = '65' *3 FAX > Ncu > DIALTONE > 003 = '105' *4 FAX > Ncu > DIALTONE > 004 = '8' *4 *1: The function to improve the instantaneous line interruption resistance is deactivated. This function is not supported in the combination use of a machine with the main controller (system software) of Ver. 76.03 or later and the FAX board-W1. Even when this function is activated (by setting this bit to '0'), it is deactivated if the main power switch is turned OFF/ON. *2: The default of T2 timer at time of communication using V34 modem is 30 sec. *3: The detection parameter of REORDER tone that is output when the other machine is disconnected. *4: DT detection parameter. Besides the procedure above, the following service mode item can be used: service mode > FAX > Clear > ALL. But note that once ALL CLEAR is executed, all the FAX service switches and FAX user switches are reset to the default values. Furthermore, when a FAX board is mounted to a machine with the main controller (System) software of Ver. 76.03 or later, "W1/W2" is displayed on the option configuration screen. To check the version of FAX board mounted, enter the following service mode: Service mode > COPIER > Display > VERSION > FAX. If "**On Board-F+" is displayed, the FAX Board-W1 is mounted. If "**On Board-D" is displayed, the FAX Board-W2 is mounted.

C3380 and C2880 series use the W1 Fax Board
and the C3480, C3080 and C2550 series use the W2 Fax Board

The W1 fax board is no longer available.
If you order the W1, you will receive the W2. In this case, please check the firmware on the copier.
If the version is below 75.xx, you will have to bring the level up to version 75.xx or higher.
