[Misc] canon irc3480 fax option not present

Copier runs great copy print scan, it also has a fax unit . The fax unit shows up in the service mode *28* but the option to fax is not under the send tab. I swapped the unit with a known good unit and the same problem. I dont know if this option is possibly turned off in the service mode or what?

You may have to go into service mode level 2 and enable the fax option. You may do so by executing the following.

1) Go into service mode level 2.
2) Select Copier, Option, Body.
3) Page down until you see the option for UI-Fax and set this option for "1".



SERVICE MODE-Level 1=
press Additional Functions Key (once)
press #2 & 8 key at the same time (release both)
then press Additional Functions Key again (release it)

for Level 2 =press Additional Functions Key again > release> then press #2 key

Same problem the UI-FAX was set to 1. In warm -up I don't hear the copier check the telephone connection in about mid warm-up. This feature was working according to the customer before I removed the fax unit to find a loose connection on the B board (dc board) behind fax unit. I backtracked and didn't see wear I'd pinch a wire or any other loose connections. Is there a connection I can check to see if the main board is receiving a fax unit present signal. There were missing screws on the board cover some I know I'm not the first person in the back.

did you plug the power connector back in at the bottom of the fax unit?
This one gets overlooked sometimes during reinstallation.
A good way to see if the machine is seeing the fax unit is to go to meter read function and hit the device configuration button

Does machine have Universal Send or just straight faxing? Customer is hearing things...machine don't check fax connection during rotations.
