[Misc] 6% Toner Coverage Original Sample

What does a letter size original with 6% image look like?

Most Service Guides reference a letter size original with 6% coverage as a basis for estimating toner yield. In the past the Technical Support Center has received many inquiries about what a 6% letter original would look like. Attached to this article is a sample which represents 6% coverage. Please note that the sample provided is not to be used as a Test Chart due to variables in the density of the sample when printed. Other considerations when discussing toner yield is the condition of the machine, copy quality, exposure settings, font type, font size, font character, graphics, the environment, etc..

The attached sample has been provided for reference only!

Another method for estimating 6% coverage is a typical business letter containing approximately 40 lines with 40 characters per line.

A lot of manufaturers have now switched or are now switching to a 5% yield standard for toner yields and giving you smaller cartridges. Even less bang for your buck now than the old days. Here's a pretty inclusive copy of Canon yields for reference. Some of the CLC's actually were based on 10% yields.Canon consumables_catalogue_eng.pdf
