Please help! I am unable to replace colour toner cartridge for Canon irc5800. I have instructions how to replace the toner cartridges. They came with the new set of toners I bought but I have misplaced these and now unable to replace the toners especially the colour cartridges. I managed to replace the black one which wss fairly simple. I know how to enter service mode and carry out certain functions of the machine. But I can't figure it out how to replace colour toners. I have replaced the yellow cartridge because I could see it when I open the colour toner supply cover. Would someone kindly help. Thanks

Thank you for your interest in the issue. I would like a copy of User Manual if someone has and kindly shares . I have tried many times and failed to locate User Manual for this model. Many sites indicate they have it but in fact what they have is the brochure in about 12 pages including Canon website. I have service manual but strangely nowhere it mentions procedure for toner replacement. It did give instructions how to fit the toners for the first time and refer to: "Check to see that the control panel displays the message " set the cartridge"". Yet it did not mention how to get that message displayed. These instructions are written in the context where the machine does not have toners in it yet. To replace them may involve different procedures. Any other ideas ? Cheers.Comment

Re: replacing color toners for Canon irc5800
Thanks for your tip. Maybe that is the way but I remember having read somewhere it recomends to change all at the same time. Currently it displays the message for all of the colours one after another that colour toner almost empty but not require replacement yet. If you are right then I would have problems if the sensor for colour toner level does not work well. In case where a toner is already empty but no message displayed and no chance to replace the toner or where a toner which has been in the machine so long and can not be replaced. Currently some coliur seems to be missing. Are there any way to rotate and change all of them in one go. Nowhere in the Service Manual mentions procedure for toner replacement other than fitting them for the first time. Thanks again.Comment

Re: replacing color toners for Canon irc5800
Yuk.....5800. Pull out the process unit. Release the turret by actuating solenoid at rear by hand. This will allow you to rotate the turret. If it is asking for toner replacement on all colors and they are not empty, then the sensor(mounted stationary) is not working properly. There is a prism on toner cartridge that refracts the infra red light from the toner sensor transmitter to receiver of it. If receiver receives light, toner is empty. I have had to replace the wiring harnesses at the front of the process unit for this problem. Clean that toner sensor while you got it open.If its dirty,it will think it always has toner...not your problem. Changed many harnesses for potential control errors, dirty prints(no pre-exposure),toner cartridge issues. I used to carry one with me when i was servicing them. None left in the field here.Comment
