The gadget you mention is a Mobile WiFi or so called MiFi.
It connects equipment with a Wireless network Interface card like most Notebooks and Tablets to the Internet.
The new Canon Imagerunner Advance series has an optional Wireless Lan Board to connect wirelessly to the MiFi.
Old types imagerunners does not have this option, you must connect it with a cable (Wired Lan).

It's something similar to turbo hubs in Canada. You can get a wireless bridge (cat5 to wifi) for 60 bucks and save yourself the probably thousands of dollars that canon wants for a wireless kit.

hi guys - thanks for all the replies

currently if I have to make a machine (say an irc2380) wireless i will do of two things either use netgear wnce2001 adataper or use poe adapters(clients dont tend to notice or care) - however i cannot see a wps option on any of the mifi hubs listed and having browsed the option cant see to configure wnce2001 without first using a lan point...

bit of a conundrum and as more of our clients may use them trying to get ahead of the pack .....

If your purpose is making a Canon IR / IRC available wirelessly for notebooks, you can connect an Access Point to the Canon IR/IRC Network port by a CAT5 cable. Access Points are cheap nowadays, about $25-30.
To connect the IR/IRC to the Internet you must also connect a Modem/Router to the Network.

your best bet is to do this, and with the access point connected to the IR/IRC you can use the access points web interface to connect it to the existing MIFI (mobile wifi access point) like you would on a regular SOHO wifi
