    Canon 3045 squealing noise

I have a canon IR3045 with a high pitched squealing noise that I can not pin point. I have lubed every possible place and still cant pin it down. I have a video of it but cant upload because its a .mov file. The pic I have included is just to give an idea of where the noise sounds like its coming from. I can email the video if needed.
Thanks so much for any help

There's a couple of Electro Clutches behind that area which can have dry bushings & will give a squealing noise when paper is picked up or transported, a light lube on the shafts etc should get rid of the noises - pain in the bum to get to though.

I have had the main drive units on these squeak many times. Pull the main drive assembly out(entire assembly....or belt will pop off). Clean the clutches and oil all the bushings, etc. Put a dab of conductive grease on the ground clip.

Toner can migrate into the area between the drum pin and the drum and cause the squeaking noise.

I am dealing with this right now and I am going to replace the clutch. Pull off the whole drive assembly. You will need to open the right door and remove the white gear on m10 I think. The lowest one, will come right off. Then remove four screws. Search sm Main Assembly. Wiggle it out after wire unplugged. You will see clutch in the middle. That clutch has been a source for noise on these on 2270 too. Drop some oil around the bearings and gear in main drive. Also note the pins how they go into plastic gears, you can lube or oil those too.

So I would order a clutch, and lube the bushing and such with that clutch off. This is an easy job, nervous the first time. Need to make sure you remove the outer far left screws on the left. Waste of time to remove and try to oil. Id replaced clutch too.

If you put your hand on the assembly you can feel the clutch tun off and on and the noise will match that. Mine is almost non existant but will be changed. resetting drum and developer can help temp.

If I have a squeak like this I use WD40 with the straw for accuracy, then spay all around the general area, all you need to do if avoid spraying directly on any clutches, I do this without stripping the machine.
Worse case the squeak is gone but m/c jams etc. just remove that clutch & flush out with alcohol cleaner.
Remember a squeak can echo round the machine so mught not be comming from where you think it is!

Don't rule out the dv unit.

Getting too complicated here...lol. Open the right door, pop the white gear and cam off. 4 screws to remove main drive assembly. Couple of connectors, saddles, etc. Flush the 4 clutches out and the bushings with isopropyl alcohol. Drop or 2 of oil on each bushing and small drop on end of each clutch where hub turns. Not too much or it will seep into clutch plates/windings. Oil where gears turn on shafts, etc. Grease the gears also. Use a lubricating oil...3 in 1 is good. WD40 is a penetrating oil and has poor long term lubricating properties. Unless the motor assembly itself is squeaking, this will get rid of your squeak. Done it at least 15 times on 3245s. Never had to change a part. 30 minute call max. Hope this helps
