      the only way to Scan documents back to a PC is with the addition of a Printer Kit.

      Network Scanning (optional)*
      Network Scan function enables you to use the imageRUNNER C6870U/C5870U as a conventional scanner.
      You can scan a document using the machine, and read the data in an application you are using on your computer, such as Adobe Acrobat.
      To use this function, the machine is required to be connected to a network, and Color Network ScanGear software* installed on your computer. You can scan images of up to 11" x 17" in size at a resolution of 600 x 600 dpi.

      The optional Color UFR II/PCL/PS Printer Kit or imagePASS must be installed on your machine, and the Color Network ScanGear must be installed on your computer

      Check in Service mode if COPIER>OPTION>BODY>UI-EXT is set to a 1. If it is set to a 1, check the UFR PCB (if using a Canon Controller) or Open Interface PCB (if using an imagePASS) and make sure it is seated correctly. If the UFR PCB/Open Interface PCB is not detected by the imageRUNNER, the Scan button will not be available.




      Follow the steps below to set the Standard Send Settings to the customer preference:

      1.Additional Functions

      2.Communication Settings

      3. TX Settings (Under Common Settings, Left side of panel)

      4. Scroll to the screen displaying "Edit Standard Send Settings"

      5.Select from the File Format menu the desired setting

      6.Press OK

      7. Press the reset button twice.
