I have an ir3235 that is jamming on duplex with a 0207 jam. The paper is trying to wrap around the drum on the second side. Canon has claws for the Chinese drum. I cannot get the claws from Canon. The customer has very damp paper and will not change to anything else. I need something to make their paper run. Settings or parts. Any help will be appreciated.

try Cassette Heater
service mode---Level 2
COPIER > OPTION > BODY>HUM-SW
The output level of transfer current is controlled in accordance with the specified environment.
Override the Environment Sensor
in your case> do not leave at "0"set to "5'
0: Automatic control by the sensor
1: Low humidity
2: Rather low humidity
3: Normal humidity
4: Rather high humidity
5: High humidity
Make the setting in accordance with the installation environment. The transfer current output level is controlled in accordance with the specified environment.
Low-humidity environment: The transfer current output level increases.
High-humidity environment: The transfer current output level decreases
1) Select the item to highlight it, input the setting, and press the OK key.
2) Set the main power switch to OFF and back to ON.**Knowledge is time consuming, exhausting and costly for a trained Tech.** -
Re: ir3235 duplex jamming
However the ONLY way to run reliable duplex in humid environment on this model is if the customer uses 100GSM paper. If you SHOW the customer exactly why the machine is jamming, make them understand & explain THERE IS NO FAULT WITH THE COPIER IT IS THE PAPERComment

=======================
I used to hand this index card information below to all thick headed customers & thick headed salespeople :
Absolute humidity is a measure of the number of grains of water per pound of dry air (7,000 grains equals one pound). Absolute humidity is independent of air temperature.
Relative humidity (RH) is a measure of the amount of water in the air, at a specific air temperature, expressed as a percentage of the maximum amount of water the air can hold at that temperature.
Relative humidity, is the major factor that influences the moisture content of exposed paper
Paper should be in moisture equilibrium with an atmosphere that has a relative humidity of 40-50% at 72 degrees Fahrenheit.
However, the actual moisture content of various papers will differ under these conditions depending on the individual construction of each paper. Similar papers may be encountered
which, when in equilibrium with the same relative humidity environment, have a considerable difference in their moisture content.
The actual moisture present in a particular paper (at a specified RH) is determined
by the following: fiber (type, purity and quantity), filler (type and quantity), adhesives/binders (quantity and nature), manufacturing techniques (degree of fiber treatment), and the past moisture history of the particular paper
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
everyone poster some good quality suggestions ;
what is the image coverage % on paper ?
had street print shops that used to keep the door open in all conditions, dumped those accounts to another sucker service company
-buy quality paper
-keep unused paper out of all trays
-keep paper in a Rubbermaid Container
u will learn customers never blame the paper/Last edited by teckat; 08-25-2013, 04:33 PM.**Knowledge is time consuming, exhausting and costly for a trained Tech.**Comment

Re: ir3235 duplex jamming
good point /
click on pic better view for customer
Paper.JPG
paper2.JPGpaper1.JPG
Wavy Edges/Wavy Middle (PIC to left)=usually High HUM (too damp )
Tight up ward curl edges (PIC to right)=usually to Low HUM ( too hot )
Paper that is properly temperature conditioned (70-75 degrees Fahrenheit) will absorb moisture when exposed to a high relative humidity atmosphere. The absorbed moisture causes the paper to develop wavy edges.
Paper will absorb moisture very rapidly from a humid atmosphere – approximately 65% of all moisture that will be picked up in one hour is picked up in the first 30 seconds of exposure while no more than 10% would be lost during the same 30 second time interval – and wavy edges may develop shortly after exposure begins.

Re: ir3235 duplex jamming
Are they loading paper properly? Curl up from package or "image this side" up in the cassette. What kind of 20 lb. paper? Canon,Xerox,Hammermill,Staples,or other sub-grade paper? Sometimes getting a better quality 20 lb. paper will make a difference. I battle humidity ever summer here and sometimes paper type makes a big difference. Proved it to many customers. And yes LTRR runs better because curl is perpendicular. Sometimes a few strips of mylar on the door help keep the paper flatter on the second pass through the registration area.Comment
