Setting up scanning on non-networked device - IR 1025if

Good morning. Forgive me if this has already been posted as I tried to search but did not find anything...

I am trying to set up several 1025if's and the customer only has 1 dedicated Ethernet port in their office which is being used by their PC. They need to set up scanning-to-network on these devices, but they do not have a way to network them. They already have a IRA C5250 which is networked if that matters.

My question is this: Is there a way to set up scanning on a non-networked 1025if through the USB cable, or by somehow sharing the device so that it can get networked by using the PC's connection?

Any solution you can offer to resolve this would be very much appreciated.

    Thank you!

    hi

you cant share the scanner, like you would a usb printer on the network

i would recommend you buy a 6 port switch (costs pretty much nothing) split the one point that comes into that office and run a few fly leads to your devices...........................

Thank you for the prompt reply.

Would it work putting wireless NIC cards on the back of the 1025s to get them networked? I know it might create a bottle-neck for large scan jobs, but it would be acceptable for now.

        =====================

U can connect to a PC via the USB on Printer

the 1025iF has Standard Network Printing
Network printers (IRA C5250) connect directly to a network instead of to a computer. Then, each computer can connect to the network to use the printer.

        connect through a NETWORK HUB/ROUTER
wireless print server or wireless LANs are not supported by the 1023 / 1025 series.

You could use something like a NETGEAR Universal WIFI Adapter (WNCE2001) for about $50 ea. Of course this is assuming the customer has a wireless router already. The Netgear device allows connectivity with the existing wireless network. I have used several of them over the past few years and are simple to setup and are very reliable. Of course a wired Ethernet connection is always going to be better. Hope this helps you.

My initial thought was I could use something like CanoScan / iR ToolBox to USB Scan to a hotfolder on the desktop of the PC...thus making it accessible on the network. I have done it before and it worked fine.

Apparently there is a known issue with Windows 7 64-bit which makes this software not work for this application.

It looks like I will have to go pick up some network switches and go that route.

Thank you for all of the recommendations.
