    [Misc] Resurrecting an old machine

I am trying to get an old Canon Ir 6000i to work. The copier wasn't used for a long time ( a few years) and was abandoned in a garage. Pieces of it are missing and it is in a really bad condition. I have cleaned it and it seems that it's mechanics are fine. The problem is I can't find a code for the reader unit cable and I can't do anything until I find one because of the E00732-0001 error. Does enyone know if i can use the copier without the reader unit as a simple printer until I can find a cable? And if so how can I disable the reader? Also I would appreciate it if somebody could tell me how can I find a reader unit cable.

No not on this model you can't disable the scanner. On newer canon's you can. You will need to find that missing cable or order a new one.

E732 codes are common on Canon Units that have been 'stored' for some time - without going to any real expense, remove and clean ALL the PCB contacts including RAM in the Controller Box - I use a cloth dampened with RP7 to clean contacts then buff with a dry one - 100% sucess for me .

He's lost the reader unit cable, all the cleaning won't fix the error without the cable!
