    [Error Code] canon error E0540-8002

Ive checked the upper tray flag and it isn't broken or out of place. When the machine is turned on it goes through all the normal check home positions and the machine warms up to a ready state, green print key and all. The second you hit the print key the top tray goes to find home (the tray moves in the upward direction not in the downward direction like it should) the second the tray moves up the E0540-8002 kicks. After this, the only option is to run it in the limited functions mode which it does fine except for the obvious problem of know collating. Screwtape had a suggestion of placing foam on the tray to make the actuator to tray distance smaller. Any help will be appreciated.

model number? Are the trays diffifcult to push up and down? ( down requires putting a flathead into the slot underneath and releasing the drive gear ) . Any binding, etc?? You should be able to move them up and down freely with no issues.

AD-1 or 2 bins move freely up and down with the release pushed in

hi there is a mod of putting small bits of plastic on the finisher side of trays to make good contact on the up and down tray sensor arm.

I have this exact Issue on a ir5570/ T-1 finisher, Installed a new old style actuator(front facing) the old one was broken. But when you try to run the first copy the top tray goes UP about an inch and codes out with E540-8002. It seams like the tray should go down first then up ? Anyway I was thinking Control bd. , but I will try the new part # for the new style actuator 4A3-5454-010. Any other thoughts please let me know, Thanks

Had this immediately after installing modified flag on 7055.
Had to give a tug (towards bin side), on (flimsy) sensor bracket, in order for flag to hit sensor earlier.
So far I have done 3.

You could run it with panels off, in case you need to adjust it again, till you get no e-codes.
This allows you to watch it
Just a warning..... The last 6055 I ran with the panels off, would always give a code , but it worked after I put the panels back.

I suppose you could also extend the flag. Too much work!!
