just for your info i had an 8300 that had some of those codes and tried all sorts tricks and replaced lots of bits working from the head back to the controller. the only thing that fixed it was replace the controller which also happened to be the easiest bit to change. in future i might start with the controller even though the workflow doesn't indicate that, making sure the heads are not an early batch that had problems.

I meant main controller ...accessed by removing panel at rear of printer.

Hello, I have an ipf8300s and my printer is giving the error 03130031-2f52. I have made a youtube video to show what this printer is doing:

I can't get into service mode and the carriage seems to be locked up or unable to move. However, the other day, the carrier was able to move and functioned properly. The error code still popped up. I've gotten many responses from techs that would have me replace a dozen parts just to make sure the problem is solved. With my budget, I'd like to narrow this down as far as possible before investing any more time and money into this repair.

I can't update the firmware without getting into print mode. Below you suggested replacing the carriage relay PCB. My printer was not saying, "can't detect paper size" though.

                Thank you for your time.

                  L Printer Tool
When a problem on the printer occurs and an error code is displayed, effectively disabling the printer, this service tool allows you to bypass the error and aid in troubleshooting. Under the above conditions the printer becomes disabled and cannot be flashed with firmware using the traditional methods. The L Printer
Tool allows you to “bypass” the error condition which allows you to update the printer with firmware. The L Printer Tool allows technicians to retrieve the Status Print and Print Inf. files electronically, providing information that may be necessary for troubleshooting purposes.

                  1. Remove side and top covers and defeat top cover interlock switch. This allows for examination of ink flow to print heads in step #7.
                  2. Turn printer ON in Download Mode and upgrade firmware.
                  3. Turn the printer OFF, remove both print heads and discard them away from the customer’s premises,
they MUST NOT be reused. DO NOT INSTALL NEW PRINT HEADS YET.
                  4. Replace the Carriage Relay PCB.
                  5. Turn the printer ON in Service Mode without the new print heads installed. When the display indicates ready, turn printer OFF. (Entering Service Mode will automatically clear any related
