E003 Fixing low temperature error
0000 Condition
In 20 sec after the fixing heater has gone on, the reading of the main thermistor
is 120 deg C or less.

Cause

The main thermistor is faulty. The DC controller is faulty. The connector has
poor contact, or the harness is faulty.
- Replace the fixing sleeve unit (main thermistor).
- Replace the DC controller PCB. *1

0001 Condition


In the course of printing temperature control, the reading of the sub thermistor
is 80 deg C or less for 2 sec or more.


Cause


The sub thermistor is faulty. The DC controller PCB is faulty. The connector
has poor contact, or the harness is faulty.
- Replace the fixing sleeve unit (sub thermistor).
- Replace the DC controller PCB. *1

Remove unit to inspect/ then Perform an error clear in service mode under Copier > Function > Clear > ERR




If the fixing unit is not turning; fixing end thermistors, TH2 and TH3, will not heat up properly causing an E003 0001 to occur. This can be caused by the one way gear in the fixing drive assembly slipping, (ie: the fixing drive motor is turning but the fixing unit is not being driven).

If fixing unit is being driven properly, follow the countermeasure recommendations in the Self Diagnosis section of the service manual for E003 0001.



In many cases this error code was observed because the right door lower hinges break (crack). The right door will tilt slightly and not allow the actuator to activate SW3 properly, hence causing E003 error code.

Clear the error code in service mode, and cheat SW3 and power cycle the printer to verify if the position of the right door is the cause for this error code. Upon successful verification, the replacement of either right door hinges would be necessary to resolve the error code.

SW3 is the Fixing unit's AC interlock switch. Sometimes the right door actuator will be bent and not fully press SW3 when the right door is closed. SW3 is a button switch located right above some of the Fixing unit's rear frame connections. SW3 has been found to show signs of wear and have carbon build up inside it. If the right door actuator is straight and making good contact , inspect SW3 and it's AC connections. If any flaws are found after inspecting SW3, replace it. SW3's part number is, FM2-9427-000. The image below is for reference purposes only, it points out SW3 and it's right door actuator.

Funnily enough I have 2 Canon IRC 2380i that have E003-002 errors

Have ordered the lower caps, mine are broken....

I have this problem, right door actuator was distorted because the lover cap was broken.

Yup, if the caps are broken,the door does not actuate the interlock(sw3 i believe) properly. Switch goes bad sometimes...usually not. Add a spacer between the arm and button actuator(?) in the switch assembly(see Teckats pic) if caps are ok and switch itself is ok. Of course you cleared the error in service mode.... I've installed a spacer on tons of these switch assemblies for E-003 codes

Yes, Only one I seen with this error had a door that was beat up. Put the fuser in another machine and it was cherry pie! bad door/caps
