imagerunner 2870 what does this mean?

In the above picture you will notice that at the bottom of the display there is a warning saying "The default key is corrupted or invalid." What the heck is it referring to? It's a new (to me) piece of equipment in my shop so I have no history on it.

Here is what I've done to the ir 2870 that probably has something to do with it:

~installed an ir4570 Hard drive in order to replace the customer removed one.
~replaced the entire control panel due to a faulty digitizer screen.
~software cleared DC-Con and Passwords in order to get around the "Department ID"

The copier does copy, print and send to my hard-drive so far just fine though I have not been close enough to an internet connection to test the send to email option or to see whether it exists. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

How to clear out the message Default Key is Corrupt
1. Enter service mode * 2 8 * > * 2, for level 2
2. Copier > Function > Clear > highlight CA Key - press OK.
3. Power copier off, then back on - Default Key is Corrupt message should clear.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

In some case although the above procedure was followed, “The Default Key is corrupted or invalid.” message is still displayed. Please perform the following procedure. 1.Install the key and the CA certificate using Service Support Tool. 2.Turn the main power OFF and ON. 3.Clear CAKEY. (Service Mode Level 2 > COPIER > FUNCTION> CLEAR > CAKEY) 4.Turn the main power OFF and ON. * After this procedure is performed the key and the CA certificate will be set to the default values.

If u don't have a KEY# or CA --- Make one up

If the message did not clear perform the following to create a new key:

1. Additional Function> System Settings> Network Settings> TCP/IP Settings> Certificate Settings 2. Select Generate Key
3. Enter Key Name: input any name (Default Key)
4. Select 1024 for Key Length
5. Enter the Current Date as the start date
6. Enter the End Date with current Month and Day and the Year - 2032

7. Select Start Key Generation
8. Go back to Certificate Settings and select Key and Certificate List
9. Select the corrupt Default Key and press Erase
10. Cycle power.
