I am working on an ir1510 for a customer it is light on one edge the one to the back of the mechine. Only about half a shade on gray scale. The drum unit sets in fine it has 27k on it did order a drum haven't went back yet. And have cleaned optics and charge roller. Is there a way to adjust the shading in the service mode.

Try checking the cartridge guides inside the machine...especially the rear one. Have seen many broken. It's black plastic and you need to look closely, since there's a small amount of play to it anyway. Canon has since updated the part to a more beefy one. Aside from that, you're probably looking at a new drum anyways, since Canon estimates it a 24K+ lifespan.
