    Canon IRC 3080 Firmware needed

    We are a Lanier/Toshiba (amongst others) dealer, but the folks at the top have promised that all hard drives get erased as soon as the returned machine gets brought back to the shop. We formatted the hard drive on an IRC 3080, and now the control panel screen just flickers.

    We are not well versed in Canon, but are thinking we wiped the firmware with the hard drive (Toshibas do that). So if it would be possible for someone to upload the firmware, (most current would be nice, but any version if something else is available), and possibly any tool that would be needed to install the firmware, it would be appreciated.

    If we are totally off base on our assessment, please explain what we would need to do to return the display to the copier.

    Thanks in advance

    if they only did an "Initialize All Data/Settings" on printer that would retain the printers Firmware ( that is the proper way )
    'Initialize All Data_Settings' Option on the Canon Devices.pdf

    u stated all HDD's are wiped ? & by who at the top ?

    how did u format the HDD on this printer ??

    in service mode = Partition-based formatting is possible in service mode (COPIER > FUNCTION > SYSTEM > HD-CLEAR),
    with the exception of BOOTDEV

    HD-CLEAR = Initializes partition specified by CHK-TYPE item.

    - The following must be kept in mind and the user must be properly informed of the fact when
    using CHECK-TYPE:
    0: entire HDD -> no operation occurs (to initialize, use the SST)
    1: image storage area -> removes image data
    2: general-purpose file area (user settings data, various log data, PDL spool data, image data
    control information) -> initializes files
    3: PDL-related file storage area -> removes font data, requiring re-installation
    4: firmware, address book, filter storage area -> no operation occurs (to initialize, use the SST)
    Operation method
    1) Select this item.
    2) Press the OK key.
    Attention:
    If you perform <HD-CLEAR> after selecting 1 (image storage area) or 3 (PDL file storage area) for the <CHK-TYPE> item, the initialization process is performed after the power is turned OFF/ON.
    The initialization process takes about 5 minutes. A progress bar slowly advances to indicate the progress during this time. Never turn the power OFF during this time.

    if a complete Format was done on HDD outside of the printer ( HD removed ) or still inside Printer using the SST Canon Program/ u will need the Canon SST Program + the Printers Firmware

    Firmware needs to be downloaded > then loaded /registered into SST
    then the HD needs to be Formatted again> then the Firmware needs to be installed into printer

      Thanks for the detailed reply. The company promise potential customers that if we are picking up their existing equipment, That as soon as their old machine rolls into the shop, the hard drive is formatted so if there is any sensitive information on the drive it will be erased.

      For the machines we are not familar with, we manually pull the hard drive, and format the drive via a usb cable.

      So our hard drive is completely formatted, I'm hoping a friend can come through with the sst tool, and firmware.

        Re: Canon IRC 3080 Firmware needed

        Thanks again to those who helped, I got the machine passing paper, which is ultimately all that is needed. However, After installing all the system software, the software told me after the machine tells me to reset the power, to restart it in 1 7 mode.

        When I restart in 1 7 mode, the control panel shows "FixedIP" but it doesn't say "download mode" as I expected it to, and when I try to register the final (?) 2 boot firmwares, it tells me it can't find the HD. If I restart in 2 8 mode, it won't let me update. I don't need to know why I can't go any further, except for my own piece of mind

        But again, Thanks all who have helped!!!

          The HDD Must be a Canon OEM Part or Identical to a removed one
          HDS728080PLAT20=HDD--
          Hitachi Deskstar 7K80

          FM2-8258-000=HDD

          1- The HDD must first be formatted by using the models HDFormat file/ using the
          SST
          On the newer model machines, you must connect to the device in 'Single Mode' to format the HDD with the HDFormat file.
          Otherwise, the ALL_HDF batch install will fail.

          SST HD.JPG

          2-Then u select the ALL_HDF:
          The ALL_HDF is intended for use when a HDD has been formatted with HDFormat or when a new service part HDD has been installed (i.e. there is no working system installed).

          and follow instructions
