[Error Code] Canon IR 3380 E025-0000

Cleaned sensors below toner cartridges. Copier will copy B/W. This machine had thrown E025-0002. When that cleared up the E025-0000 showd up. I am thinking I missed the spot with canned air that the problem is occurring but not sure where that is... Anyone had this problem ?...

    -------------------

Canned Air into a Printer where toner is present

    iRC3380

E025 /Error in the toner motor

0000 Indicates an error of Y developing assembly toner supply
0001 Indicates an error of M developing assembly toner supply
0002 Indicates an error of C developing assembly toner supply
0003 Error of Bk developing assembly toner supply

    0100 Y buffer supply error
    0101 M buffer supply error
    0102 C buffer supply error
    0103 Bk buffer supply error
    -------------------------------------------------

    Causes to check
    -Defective Drum Unit
-Blocked Toner Pipe (High Humidity / High Temperature Environment)
    -Loose/ Faulty Wiring
-Faulty/ Dirty Toner Feed Level Sensor
    -Faulty Toner Supply Motor
    -Defective Connecting PCB Unit
    -Defective DC Controller PCB Assembly
    Action
C-heck for a broken or jammed toner supply auger on the Drum Assembly.
-Check the toner holes on the Drum and Hopper Assembly. Use a vacuum to clear any blockage found.

-Also check that the sensor lever is not jammed

-Check for loose or pinched wires on the Connecting PCB Unit at J551 and J552.

-If the Toner feed motors (M8 through M11) can be activated in service mode under PART-CHK, suspect a fault at Toner feed level sensor. First clean the sensor, if found to be faulty replace it with a new one:
PS3 through PS5: Toner feed level sensor (WG8-5772-000)
PS6: Toner feed level sensor for black (FK2-0149-000)

E025 error code is indicated when a copy in color mode is made.

The toner for each color is fed from the toner retainer, via the hopper assembly, to the drum unit. There are two kinds of toner feeding, one is hopper feeding from the toner retainer to the hopper assembly and another is drum feeding from the hopper assembly to the drum unit.
If all is normal, the toner supply motor (M8-M11) rotates clockwise (CW). If something goes wrong and the motor rotates counterclockwise (CCW), however, the toner supply feed-screw will rotate to cause a change in the output of PS3 through PS6 (with the machine assuming malfunction of the toner supply motor).

To execute correct toner feeding, this machine has a toner feed level sensor (PS3-PS6). This sensor detects the sensor flag mounted on the shaft of the feed screw. This sensor flag executes reciprocating movement by the drive of the toner feed motor. It is the structure that the toner feed screw rotates and the specific amount of toner is fed to the drum unit when the sensor flag moves back and forth once.

At the time of the toner feeding, the DC controller monitors this sensor while driving the toner feed motor. The toner feed motor is stopped when feeding is completed. By executing this, the toner feeding is correctly implemented.

    Workaround :

    [1] Stirring plate
    [2] Agitating plate
    [3] Scraping spring
    [4] Sensor flag
    [5] Toner feed screw
[6] Toner feed motor drive signal
[7] Toner feed motor error detection signal
    [8] toner container
    [9] Hopper assembly
    [10] drum unit
    M8 through M11: Toner feed motor (FM2-5597-000)
PS3 through PS5: Toner feed level sensor (WG8-5772-000)
PS6: Toner feed level sensor for black (FK2-0149-000)

If the Toner feed motors (M8 through M11) can be activated in service mode under PART-CHK, suspect a fault at Toner feed level sensor (PS3 through PS6).

I agree....canned air is a no-no...just moving toner from one place to another. VACUUM. If the photo interrupts are clean(physically remove each one and clean it) and still getting sub code 0000, could be toner in yellow toner motor(at left side...seen them fail from leaking yellow toner...usually with a non-Canon(junk) toner cartridge.)After cleaning them make sure to install the mod sheet(or make some out of transparency) to prevent them from getting soiled again.

Wow !!! THANKS SO MUCH !!! I am with ya'll on the canned air deal... 2 seasoned Canon techs said to use it and I figured it was the exception. Glad to hear that the little voice in my head that carries about 25 years of experience is still telling the truth not to use canned air. Honestly think that is why I am having problems now... You guy's are GREAT Thanks you so much !!

Canon introduced a new cable guide, the plastic part the board screws on to, that is supposed to help the toner scatter, the part number is FC6-9380-010.

I have also seen machines with electrical tape stuck over the gaps in the metal part below the toner cartridges, as seen in the circles, anybody think this is a good idea?

Does that cable guide help at all? It looks as if they just added a shelf to keep the toner from falling onto the sensors and board below... My problem is if they knew the toner dropping was an issue shouldnt they fix it instead of adding a band-aid?

I do agree with you about these models dropping toner, good machines, but they do like to drop toner, especially yellow, even when modified

Problem turned out to be that the yellow sensor plug was just hanging out of the jack.
