Hi, firstly the machine detected the error & relayed to SST, secondly check the fax unit is the correct model for machine model and thirdly normally one would not need to update firmware for a Fax Unit .

J1 is right. My product# info says 6981A002AA but the # could have changed. I believe there are 2 boards, one being small that mounts at the bottom of the big board. Been awhile. Make sure you've found all the connectors that have to get plugged in.

Please all Canon Gurus, can any one explain why I get always this internal error 124 in SST (as pic. above). I registered 3 files from G3Fax Folder:

            iR2200-XXxx3102-309A-G3FAX.msx
            iR2200-XXxx3102-309A-G3FAX.PRG
            iR2200-XXxx3102-G3FAX.ift

I know that this G3Fax model fit to IR2200. All connectors are pluged (see pic.) third connector right is empty.
Please help me to solve my Problem

ok, let's see if i still remember this, (made a HD mirror image and been using it for a long time to restore systems on these) on the image attached you can see the latest version available in europe V45.01 (i can get it for you if you need just PM me) first of all on these older models installing firmware is kind of a ritual, you cannot update or add only one component, always format all partitions and start according to the following order, first do HD format, next in your case FAX, then boot, then system then RUI and last language, just to be on the safe side use a windows XP machineand set your LPT port on bios to ECC, that error in the SST manual has no specific description or fix except for "its an internal error", let us know how it goes PS-i used SST 4.72 just to show you the versions

                    Hi bipc,

I use old Notebook with Windows XP and LPT to wirte firmwares to my Canon IR2200, I have 2 choices: IR2200 and IR2200N. I have a Network Card and Boot Rom so I use IR2200N. I have tried to do what you wrote here I formatted all Partitions with HDFormat. but to write G3Fax I must to go to "Download Mode E" power on the machine with hold on 1 and 7 then enter Service Mode and chose Copier->Function->System->Download->OK. When I Format the HDD I cannot do all this steps then I cannot write G3Fax immediately (as first step) after using HDFormat. I used (ALL_HDF from IR2200N) first time, then G3Fax and I got the same internal error 124. Please guide me If I do something wrong.

                    Best Regards

                        dear bipc,

I cannot use 2&8 instead of 1&7 to write G3FAX data to IR2200. please read this section from SST manual:

                        G3 Fax:
The G3 Fax data behaves a little differently than the general process described here. First, the G3 Fax data can
ONLY be flashed when in Download Mode E. If an attempt is made to flash in Download Mode C, the data transfer
will freeze at 99% and will never complete. Also, not all fax boards will have the ability to be flashed - check the
Device Specific Notes section to confirm if a given fax board can actually be flashed. After the G3 Fax data is
transferred to the copier, it will immediately begin flashing the actual fax board - it will not wait for the restart and the
execution of the Download Shell process. Also note that the G3 Fax data type does not check the current version
installed. The data will be transferred no matter what the currently installed version is.

As you see to write G3Fax data you must to have a system installed. my system is 45.01.

                        best regards
