    [Misc] ImagePress C7000VP

I have an Canon Imagepress C7000VP that boots up and everything looks fine but regardless of trying to run a test page , scan a page on top or send one over from the server it errors out with an unknown error on the job detail screen it shows pages but no data bytes.

Has anyone ran into this before?

This is what I have tried, swapped R-OB, O-B, data cables, communication cable, and Fiery.

This system did have a E0720 error before we found a power supply blown and replaced it. after that ran copies but has be off for a few weeks. turned it back on and everything looks fine but wont print.

    Many thanks Mark

    Are the fusers warming up?

Any paper stuck behind any drawers?

Any recent error codes logged in service mode other than the E720?

Check all 3 Front Door Interlocks.

Also check the staple cartridge.... I've seen many Canons flip out when it is damaged or empty.

Everything warms up and even does auto gradation then waits idle. When I submit a job from the server the file appears to come over but when i look at the data bytes in the job details it shows 0 bytes, pages 2 or what ever it is in the job . Then after a minute says unknown error on the screen.

From the operator interface log file or test print it will not submit the job to the queue.
If i scan a page from the scanner it does the same as the print server.

I think I am making some progress, I removed the finisher and now it prints. :-) Know I need to figure out what is wrong with the finisher. no codes. :-( i will try and swap out the staple cartridge next.

I am pretty sure it has something to do with the finisher. if i take it off i can now print a p-print logs and from the server.

Remove staples then.Bad stapler/staples sometimes have this effect. This happened to me and customers so many times.

I swapped the Finisher control board and also found some paper inside the finisher. I wish the finisher would report a jam in real time, so if it actually has a piece of paper it would say so.

I think i may have it about fixed except now I have a grinding sound in the primary fixing station and the gears all look good but it looks like the refresh roller is not engaging the solenoid jumps up and down and I am also getting a 214 01 jam code. something in there isn't working right. I guess swap it and if that works then try and find the problem.

usually I have had gears snap and even little pieces of gears get stuck in the other gears but this one is not as visible. I will keep an eye on the finisher to see if it is the stapler or staple cartridge. thanks

Just to update on this, I figured out that some of my arcnet connectors were 93 ohms instead of 75Ohms, so I ordered new T's , teminators, and cable and all of my finisher E500 codes are gone. I also found that the fixing station drive AY was apparently an old style mad of plastic which is now made of metal. replaced that and everything works. yea.
